I just bought a 2006 Nissan Sentra from a non-nissan dealer. The dealer told me that he is not sure if the car has a keyless entry or not. He only gave me the keys to the car and thats all. I am trying to find out if the car has the keyless entry in it or not, considering that it has all of the other goodies in it, so that i can buy the remote for it. I have a 2006 Nissan Sentra 1.8 S Special Edition. I know keyless entry comes standard in the 2008 2.0 S trim but cant find if my particular one has it or not. I will greatly appreciate feedback. Thank you all.

Guys, you all were of superb help, now my problem is that i cant choose which of you should be my best answer. :)
JP, i am going to try your method in the morning and see if the lights blink or not. I contacted nissan and they say that the car does not have the keyless entry option. They verified by the VIN number. Kind of strange because the car have pretty much every other thing in it, even the mud flappers. :) Anyways, i appreciate your responses guys. Thanks all and Season Greetings!

You definitely do NOT have to take your car to a dealership to program the keyless entry remote. There are instructions in the link below to do it yourself. You can get a remote off of ebay for much cheaper. The part number is 28268Z and the FCC ID is CWTWB1U429. Make sure the FCC ID matches. Good luck!

Call or Send an e mail to Nissan USA, located in Smyna, TENN. Include the vin number and they can advise you. The vin usually includes a code for all safety features which keyless entry is classified.

Yes... The 06 Special edition would, in fact, have keyless entry.

Take your car to your local Nissan Dealer and order yourself a keyfob or two.... they will be able to properly program them for you... you may also want to have them give it a look over... just so they can check for any recalls your vehicle may have.
