I think the lubricant increases electrical resistance even though it was labelled specifically for spark plug use. Shall i remove the plugs and clean the threads? Is applying lube on plug threads a commonly followed practice or did i get carried away by a well placed product in an auto shop?

I want to run a couple of 5/8 inch hoses through a hole under the passenger seat, along the undercarriage of the car, and up into the engine bay. What would be the easiest way to make the appropriate holes? I have never drilled steel before.

Can I do this with a sledgehammer and a metal punch? Do I use a router? Can I do this with a wee little 12V drill and corded Dremel tool? I don't want this to take all day long.

I've been working at an Auto Parts store since April, I started a Disiel Mechanics course prior to that but dropped it... Now I'm considering just plain Auto Mechanics... anyone know of any schools that do this but online. I work to much and don't have the time to go to an actual campus.

I have a 1995 Honda Civic LX, whenever I get up to around 2500 rpm's or above, there is a very noticeable rattle coming from the engine. I've taken it into our mechanic that works on foreigns, but he found nothing wrong with the engine.

It was a legit contract VIN# and all with a major dealer, we already told them we weren't falling for the bait and switch when they couldn't come up with vehicle we signed for. Now two weeks later, we found out from the bank that the dealer paid off our loan. We're wondering if they just bought our trade? Is something going to come back to us?

Someone pissed in my car. I do not know who, and I do not know why. I have cleaned it all up and shampooed it all out and it still smells bad. So I don't know how often this happens to anyone, but maybe possibly someone could help me out.

My youngest son is almost turning 16 and we were thinking of cars to get him. I wanted a truck because we live in the country and need a truck and i was wondering if a silverado ss is good for a teenager. He gets great grades and never does anything bad. He loves the car too but was wondering about the 2008 truck. Can you tow a lot with it?

1989 Renken Seamaster fishing boat - mercruiser 4.3 v-6 - I had about $2,000 worth of work done to it, wires, gimbal bearing, ... I would have to pull the extensive invoice to list all of the parts, it included pulling the engine and out-drive off of the boat. The first time out the boat was run for about an hour when I discovered oil everywhere, the oil filter had a hairline crack and had been spaying oil everywhere and emptying the oil reserve. The mechanic said was now have either an "engine knock" or "rod knock". I was so discouraged that I tarped the boat and left it (I did winterize it and stabilize the gas). I see now there are a lot of companies offering remanufactured engines but I just don't know what I should do next. I really do not want to spend $3k to have a new engine installed... I don't know what is really wrong with the boat, what does running on low oil/pressure do? is this a knock scenario? Any thoughts, opinions, direction at all would be much appreciated. Steve

I like cars, and i want to know more about them inside and out. I don't know if I should just learn about cars and work on them as a hobby or if being a mechanic is a good idea too.

What is the driving skill you find most lacking in other drivers (or find most difficult yourself)? I thought of this watching with amusement while a driver was trying to parallel park on my street.

I have a 4-5 year old car radio/cd player. It has a built in cd player and also a radio (with flashing dials etc).

For some time, the radio has malfunctioned. It will cut out for longer periods time (short to up to days), then play with no issues for days to weeks at a time. The less common radio malfunction is there will be crackling in and out of radio reception/play and then it work.

There has been no issues with the cd player. It has worked consistently during this time.

I could easily replace the radio/cd unit, but since only the radio has malfunctioned, is there an easy way to distinguish if the failure is due to car radio unit malfunction, as opposed to attennae malfunction (thus making replacing the radio unnecessary and a waste of money)?

36000 miles I notice a humming coming from the back of the car. I jacked it up to day and shook the wheel I really couldn't tell but the more I shook it I could tell it had a little play I checked the other side which I could tell was solid. I am driving 700 miles tommorrow to Minneapolis. I was wondering if the bearing would hold out. I plan on replacing it when I get back I just don't have the time tonight. Sorry my first question was a little vague. I also pulled the brake to make sure it wasn't hanging it looked fine. Any suggestions or can I safely assume I have a failing rear wheel bearing. Also my antilock light is not on I have heard it will turn on if the bearing has already failed. Do you think 700 miles is too far to test out this potential problem?
