My youngest son is almost turning 16 and we were thinking of cars to get him. I wanted a truck because we live in the country and need a truck and i was wondering if a silverado ss is good for a teenager. He gets great grades and never does anything bad. He loves the car too but was wondering about the 2008 truck. Can you tow a lot with it?

Personally, I wouldn't plunk down that kind of money for a brand new truck so my son could learn to drive it. You'll be replacing plenty of fenders...... and they aren't cheap. A 2 or 3 yr old truck in good condition (think lease turn-in) will get him around just fine, and will tow a good amount. And if he rounds the fenders off a little bit, you won't be kicking yourself as bad as if you bought a $35-40K truck. Let him use the truck you buy him to earn enough money so he can buy the Silverado SS on his own........ he'll appreciate it a whole lot more.

Why not just give him a gun and just sit back and wait. I am sure you want him to have the best, but this is not the time. Get him a small truck like a cyclone or nissan. Dont get him a souped up pickup.

are you talking around putting in a ls7?, a old sytle 454 big block wound fit but require fabriacation and not be emission complient. also boring out a small block to 454 makes the cly walls thin and may not have a long life between rebuilds
