is it true that you can get back a little extra on your tax returns if you are over the age of 25 and still single???

P.S. I heard this rumor at work and was wondering if it was for real.

Hello, I'm getting ready to file using TurboTax and on my W2 form box 2 is blank. I checked my last pay stub for 2006 and its showing 963.30YTD. That amount is listed in box 4 on my W2. Could this be an error on the W2? What should I do? I'm gonna be pretty pissed off if this delays my ability to file. Please HELP!!!

Head of household question. I am the "bread winner', and my boyfriend is a full time student, he made less that $3,300 last year and we've lived together for the full year of 2006. I've been researching the term head of household, and it appears to have more to do with someone who has a dependant family member. Is it possible for me to file as head of household rather than single status?
Thanks in advance!

Hi! My brother has lived with me for 2006. He is 17. He worked but earned less than $3,300 in 2006. He filed his own federal income tax return. Can I still claim him being I supported him more than half the time? I read something about a section where you enter in the amount dependents made during 2006. Any information would be helpful, Thanks!

I worked at a tribal school, on a native american reservation, but I am not native. I had both federal income tax and tribal tax taken out of my paychecks. At some point, I heard that I could get the tribal tax back, since I'm not native, and get the federal tax back because I was working on a reservation. Sounds too good to be true, but if it is I'd like to know how. Do you know how this kind of thing works? Or know where I can find out more? Do I have to pay tribal taxes if I worked on a reservation?

How do I fill out the simplified method worksheet to figure out how much of my anuity payment is taxable... I do have the 1099-R which has a taxable amount but according to Turbo Tax, I have to pay more taxes even though I requested that when I pulled the $$ out of the annuity that they take out enough to pay the taxes. Only serious answers please.

I recently started selling clothes and junk on eBay, but I don't know if I should report these sales for income taxes. Most of the things I sell don't sell for more than I bought them for. Also, I'm a full-time college-student, so does that make me exempt?

If one is in required distribution, can they still direct deposit their tax refund to that account? The new option seems to make sense for other IRA's like the Roth but I didn't think it was possible to make a contribution to a traditional if you are in distribution. I know someone who is planning on taking advantage of the new option and I wondered if it won't cause a problem later.
If the bank allows it (how could they stop it if the account number is valid?) is there a correction that can be made later?
Any help would be appreciated

wages were 35527.56 and they held 3681 for federal taxes. i dont remember how many exemptions i checked on my w4 and i worked at same place all of 2006. I had the same setup in 2005, but I started that job in sept of 2005 and for the income i made from sept to dec, i got back close to $900 refund when i filed my taxes in 2006. This year I owe around $140. Should i take it to a tax filing service to get it done to make sure or is it not worth it.
