I am the representative payee for the social security disability for my adult son who lives with me. The SSA determined that he needed a representative payee because he was not able to manage his own money. I spend his SS on his food, shelter and living expenses and if any is leftover, I save it for him. Do I have to report his social security as income on my taxes?

I ended up making gross 37000 in 2006 and when i tried to file it said i owed around $140 for federal. In 2005 I worked only a few months and ended up getting back a little under $1000. I thought I was going to receive over a thousand this year but i owe? I tried using more than one filing service and same result. What's up with that? I'm filing as single and independent w/out any special deductions. Just standard 1040 form.

I donated X dollars to a church I recently joined but always give cash. There is no way to prove to the IRS how much I gave. Only God and myself know this. Can I report this X amount on my 2006 return?

Gifts to Charity?

I have a question about donated property. I did a major cleaning this past year and gave several times to Goodwill. I have 7 separate receipts. Can all the receipts only total $500 or I will have to fill out Form 8283? I know with cash donations (at least for 2006), if they are individual donations to church for example you don't combine the total. So...do I combine all the receipts? If not, can i claim about $1200 worth of donations (have documentation) and not do the additional form?

I withdrew from my IRA then within 60 days rolled part of the withdrawal back into the same IRA. When I got my 1099R from costudian, it showed the total amount of the original withdrawal as taxable. (They did not deduct the amount rolled back in. When I called the custodian they said that IRS required them to list the total amount withdrawn as taxable without indicating or deducting the amount returned. If this is true, then how do I deduct the amount rolled back in when I file my form 1040 taxes since the 1099R shows the total amount as taxable without any indication that part of the money was rolled back into the IRA?

Hey all, I'm not very familiar with taxes, so I'd really appreciate the help. I'm planning on giving my nephew enough money to buy something that's $249.99, the only problem is that I'm not sure how much it is with tax.

What is the total price of a $249.99 item with tax?

I just filed my income taxes this afternoon. I claimed my neighbor's daughter as a non-EIC dependent, but she made less than $1000.00 for the year. I did not report her income because she made less than $3200.00. Should I have claimed her income even though we never received any of it? Also, we had one other W-2 show up in the mail today that was not reported. It is only for $57.00 with no Federal or State taxes taken out. I imagine that I will need to file an 1040X, but what am I looking at as far as receiving my refund in time? We are due a refund of approx. $2400 this year, with an AGI of approx. $29,000. Any solutions?
