I dropped out of college to go to war and was wondering if my parents can still claim me as a dependent. I will re enroll when i get home and I will live with them as well. Iraq sucks

No, if you are active duty you are no longer a dependent and cannot be claimed as one by your parents. If you go back inactive and return to school before you turn 24, they can pick you up again.

I agree that Iraq sucks, but at least your pay in a combat zone is tax free.

Thanks for your service and sacrifice. Been there, done that. Kept the T-Shirt.

No - you are currently employed ful time and will have to file taxes yourself. By the time you return, you will be too old to be carried as a dependant/full time student by your parents. We all know Iraq Sucks and wish you did not have to be there. We are proud of you though and wish you and every other service member the very best for the future. You deserve so much more than those who have not served this country and I will be here to fight to see that you get a fair chance.
