I am a 19 yr. old college student (Fulltime) and work as well (fulltime) can I claim my mother who recieves welfare and is disabled. I contribute more than 50% to the household financially.

To be on the safe side, call the 800 number on the tax booklet. Also they have programs where they will do your taxes for free and check with them. Then also read the book and it tells you what you need to qualify. Maybe your mother could file and use you as the dependent and get more back. I do not really know but you need to check on this too.

It's not that you contribute more than 50% financially - remember, you live there too. You'd have to prove that you provide more than 50% of HER support. So probably not, but you could talk to a CPA and ask them to do some calculations on it. This is not something you want to take to someplace like H&R Block - depending on the preparer, there's a real good chance they'll just make some assumptions and tell you wrong.

No. She can't receive welfare if you claim her. I wonder, however, if she is truly on welfare or are you just referring to Social Security Disability as welfare?
