Hi! My brother has lived with me for 2006. He is 17. He worked but earned less than $3,300 in 2006. He filed his own federal income tax return. Can I still claim him being I supported him more than half the time? I read something about a section where you enter in the amount dependents made during 2006. Any information would be helpful, Thanks!

If he didn't provide more than half of his own support, then yes you can claim him, assuming that nobody else like one of your parents is.

He should have checked the box on his own return that says he is a dependent. It wouldn't change his taxes any.

If he didn't note that he's a dependent on his return, then there will probably be a delay in your refund when you claim him until the IRS gets it sorted out.
