I was entered that we paid for our insurance out of our checks after taxes not before. I also entered that we had a child. I did not do this on purpose. How do I contact the IRS to correct this? I filed online through tax cut

I live in the U.S. and owned stock in a company in Denmark, which is not traded in the U.S. (traded in Copenhagen). I sold the stock and received a check. Since the stock is not traded here, I was told they are not required to report this to the IRS.

Do I still need to claim this on my taxes, and how do I claim it if I do?

One of my W-2's is late. I contacted my previous boss and he says he sent it out and referred me to his accountant. I contacted the accountant and she mailed them on the 20th to him. It is now the 7th and I still haven't gotten them. When I was sending out W-2's for my office, I was told I would be penalized if they were not post-marked for the 31st of January. Why and what would these penalties be?

seriously, i think taxes are a good thing and give you more voice in the government and more of a reason to stand up for your beliefs and make sure YOU'RE the government and not the other way around. More taxes mean more country income and bigger positive influence around the globe. Lowering taxes is only good when your goverment spends it on terrible sh*t like pretty lamp posts that cost WAY more money than normal efficient ones

I got audited after I got last year's tax return. I owe the irs about $1700. I did an agreement/extension to pay in March. When I file my taxes for 2006, I am anticipating a refund. If I owe them, will they take it out of my refund automatically or can I request them to do so? Or, do I need to get the refund & pay as I had scheduled?

We were building an investment property but our financial situation changed. We were forced to break the contract and we lost our $10K deposit. Would this be deductible on our federal taxes? We have other capital gains from real estate that could offset the loss.

I had my own online business in 2005 but stopped working on that business the same year. I had a few websites bring in a little cash in the beginning of 2006, only $257. I haven't received a W-2 for it yet. Anyway, i'm "married filing jointly" and was wondering if it is required for me to report this information, since it was such a little amount. I really want to file our tax return now because I have no idea when my W-2 (income = $257) will come in. Thanks!!

I just got married in november, we are filing our taxes together. How much money do you usually get for filing jointly. We have no children, no child support. I work full time and he is a full time college student, a veteran taking advantage of his GI bill. so I just want a roundabout of how much money you get for filing married and jointly.

My ex-wife and I have been separated for over two year. Before we seperated we had an agreement drawn up that stated that we would each claim one of the children on our taxes. However, she never signed the agreement. The children live with her about 70% of the time. I pay child support which amounts to more than she makes, so obviously I am providing more that half of their support. The information that I find is since they live with her more than 50% of the time, then I can't claim them no matter how much support I give.

My refund is being held for review, along with many others. I'm trying to be proactive because I have a feeling that my refund will be delayed, especially if they go over it with a fine tooth comb. I claim my sister, we are 20 years apart, and her father owes the IRS like 30,000.

I don't have a birth certificate or a social security card for her. I'm in the process of trying to get both, they have always gave me such a hard time. The only thing that I do have is a vague court order that I have permanent custody as of August 2002. She was placed with me thru the state due to abuse and neglect. I claimed her as a foster child for 2000, 2001 and sister for the other years. Actually I ammended 2000 and 2001 because I did not realize that I could claim her. I recieved an EIC and interest for those years. I won the lottery in 2002, so I didn't get an EIC, but did for 03,04,05.

If they need more information, is it only for this year??
