One of my W-2's is late. I contacted my previous boss and he says he sent it out and referred me to his accountant. I contacted the accountant and she mailed them on the 20th to him. It is now the 7th and I still haven't gotten them. When I was sending out W-2's for my office, I was told I would be penalized if they were not post-marked for the 31st of January. Why and what would these penalties be?

The penalty is 50.00 per employee complaint, up to 10,000.00
If you do not have thr W2 by Feb 15th Call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 to file a W2 complaint.

well i don't see how YOU could be penalized unless you file your taxes late, and you have till April to do that...so unless your W-2s don't show up till after taxtime in April, i'd guess it doesn't matter when you get them, as long as you get them.
