and I in finding a retail space to open a small clothing business. How do I find one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? We are looking foe a space around 17,000 sq ft for about $1,300 a month. There are too many options and we need to concentrate the search. How much do these people charge for helping? We don't have tons of money. Would we be better off driving around and looking ourselves?

The last time there was a massive "housing crises" back in the 70s, people were torching their houses and businesses for the insurance money. Do you thing there will be mass arson as people try again to pull that stunt?

Okay. Heres the story.

My fiance and i were looking for a house to rent. We found one from Don Wright Realty.
The guy showing the house said we can put down the security deposit, $795 .. which will hold the house for us until our lease is up Sept. 1st.

He also went on to say IF we aren't approved or change our minds all but $25 for the application fee will be refunded.

Well, we gave them the money last thursday. Thursday night we found a better house so we told her Friday that we would need the $770 back ASAP.
She said to call her saturday before 12pm, noon.

I did, she never got back to me.

I called her this morning AGAIN and left a message at her office on an answering machine .. its almost 4pm, they close at 6 and she has yet to get back with me. I call again this afternoon and her sec. told me she would be in later and she would tell her i called.

If for some reason this goes on for a few more days what do i do??? I need this money back NOW!

A pet shop has had trouble with the air conditioner all summer. He has tried to have it repaired but the air conditioner was just to old. He asked his landlord to replace it but they said if they do they will have to raise his rent to cover the cost. This is in the state of North Carolina.

They keep saying the sub-prime loan problem is due to people getting loans they couldn't afford. But the problem is the ARMs have been adjusting up by 2% a year. Who can afford a 12% mortgage? That's not sub-prime. That's TWICE prime!

A short background: My roommate and I each paid $700 security deposit for the apartment we have stayed in the past year. The previous tenants moved out the DAY we moved IN..so no reports or inspections were done. I highly doubt the landlord even came by to check the place. We had several problems, gas line we found out was illegal, deck was loose...it took him weeks to fix these things among other things. I know that he will not return our deposits for some reason or another. We have not done any damage to this place but i'm sure he will find a reason. I need this deposit back right away as I just purchased a condo and can use this money ASAP. I have had to threaten a lawsuit several times. Can I just tell him to keep my deposit for last months rent? Otherwise, he is going to end up keeping this $$! Any suggestions here...

My fiance and I own our own homes and he has an LLC with two partners. Recently we were looking at buying a new home together without selling our respective properties and both of us pulling our money together for a down payment. He informed me that he would have to have his name on the deed, without mine being on it, for a tax shelter/break because he claims exempt at work to not pay taxes because of all of the losses he has through his real estate investments and that he would have to use our home as a shelter to continue to claim exempt at work to continue to make more money for us. Is this true? would me being on the deed make that big of a difference with regards to his tax status and claiming exempt? He says we can do a side agreement stating I am owner of the home too. I told him I don't feel comfortable with buying a home, not being married, and not having my name on the deed. He says he won't let me hold him back so he is going to do it on his own.

My husband and I found a house we really like. It is bank owned by Countrywide. We must get pre qualified before submitting an offer does anyone know how to go about this and what is required? Our realtor isn't really helpful. Also, once we get pre qualified can we then get a loan through a bank of our choice or does it have to be Countrywide?
Thanks!

We're house hunting and on a very tight budget- under 100,000. We DO NOT want to live in a city, despite is being cheaper and we are REALLY not big on townhouses/row homes. There are two properties we have been looking at -

One is is in a BEAUTIFUL area where the land itself would SURELY go up in value over time. It is a single wide mobile home with a stick build permanent addition. This one does not currently have a permanent foundation but we would add one in time if we purchased this.

The second one I'm not sure if it considered a mobile or manufactured home. It's in a really nice country area with lots of farmland, and the home is on a permanent foundation already and is in immaculate condition and completely renovated- looks just like a really nice little ranch home, pretty much.

Now both properties are titled with the land, and there's very little else at this time to consider because of our budget. My only concern is would the property values go up in either situation?

We put an offer on a home in the begining of July. The house was listed at 249,500. We offerend 262,500 knowing that the house was very underpriced and there were 3 other contracts already on it. The couple that owns the housing is going through a divorce so legal issues came in to play and they have had court dates because the husband now wants to buy the house cause he yhinks its underpriced. Blah blah blah. they keep going to court to decide if they have to sell it or not. Anyway its been over a month, the next court date is on the 20th. We have since found another house that I actually like better. Can we cancel our contract being that it is taking so long, we don't want to lose this new house if we wait to long and the other one doesn't go through.
