Normally I wouldnt make them pay . Unless they were aholes that didnt want to work or just party all the time and live off me . Then yes they better pay rent . But if they are young then they just need to clean the house and other slave chores in order to live in my pad . I have an 18 year old step daughter coming back to live with me . She well be getting a full time job and cleaning my house , no rent though . But she well also have a curfew or 12 . If people livein your house they need to respect the fact that you pay thousands for it .

No, its a good way to break up a family. Never sell family a car, rent or sell them a house, or anything else electronic or mechanical.

Yes, but you have to treat them like any other tenant (and make that clear up front). They need to sign a lease, pay their rent on time and not damage the property. If they don't do those things, they are unacceptable tenants.

I did and it no better than the last delinquent renter, the only positive thing was that at least I was helping a family member who down on his luck, and not taking advantage of me, he eventually paid up.

No- you can't have a good relationship with then and be their landlord at the same time. They often expect favors and if they skip a payment or several, what are you going to do? How could you handle that without ruining the relationship?

possibly but many many times it ends badly! My sister and brother just started talking again after 3 years when communication between the 2 of them caused major problems!!Even if you know they will pay what happens if they become ill or disabled-things they can't help but if they are unable to pay-you would have to make them move out and guess what?? hurt feelings!!!
