My ex boyfriend who I am still married to (long story). Is buying a house in Georgia. I am not familiar with the real estate laws in GA. My question is am I legally bound to this house? Is Georgia a marriage state like FL? Meaning that even though its his house do I still have to sign off on it? Also divorce is not an option right now.
thanks

My girlfriend (of 3 years) wants to buy a home within the next month, because our lease is up. I just got a new job, and want to make sure I have the financial plan to make that type of commitment. She doesnt want to rent because she feels the money goes to waste (which I feel to), when we could be building equity.

I told her I would pay 60% of the rent and she could pay 40%, she didnt like that idea.

Any ideas or suggestions

I'm now 8 weeks after my initial instruction to my solicitor to assist me with the purchase of a new property. I have heard of complications, and the sellers solicitor has been slow, but I don't see any great reason for the delay to be this substantial. He isn't pressing for the sale as I would like, and I'm worried that there's not much I can do about this. Could I sack him and get a new one. Would there be heavy charges, complications with the morgage company. I'm very stressed and would greatly appreciate any advice anyone can give me!

Ever since hitting 18, I always had a bad credit history and didn't know why, and I really want to move out of my parents house. I'm meant to move in with my boyfriend, but I'm worried that if we apply to let a flat then we'll be turned down because of my credit history!

For some background, I'm moving into a relatively depressed real estate market in BC, Canada. There are a lot of very old homes, but I am not a fixit kind of guy.

I have been watching late night infomercials claiming you can buy property for less on the dollar and more importantly for zero money down? How is this possible and does it violate any state laws for taking advantage of their situation?

Let's say that there is a home for sale for $170,000 by a new home builder for an inventory home. My realtor will get 3%. If the price was negotiated to 162,000 and that is as low as they will go, would I have been able to get the price reduced even further had I found the property without a realtor? My logic is that the realtor will be getting 3% of 162,000 or $4860, so would that mean without the realtor the builders might have been willing to reduce the price down to $157,140 since they would not have to pay the realtor?

I'm looking at how much land costs in certain places and see this everywhere: The same amount of land, say 1 acre, costing only $20,000, and another acre in the same area costing $100,000 or more. I know this must be because of how buildable the lot is and if it includes utilities, electric, etc. My question is, in general, would it be more expensive in the long run to buy the cheap land and have to put everything in, or buy the more expensive land that has everything there? Or would it be pretty much equal either way? Anyone with experience know? What's best for a young person without experience building a house?

Can a person be evicted in the winter?

Yes. The time of year has no legal impact on an eviction. Specific circumstances, such as federally subsidized housing and housing for the elderly, may affect eviction proceedings.

I am under the impression that earnest money is to be presented when I sign a sales contract which shows I am committed. It does not make sense to me that I would have to give someone an earnest deposit to make a verbal offer in a bidding war with other people and have them do the same. I had a real estate agent today ask me for an earnest money deposit to even make a verbal offer. He also told me that two other people had given him $1000.00 each just to make an offer. Is this common practice, ethical or even legal?

I've seen websites before that offer satellite pictures of houses and you can click and see how much they are worth and other details of the house. Does anyone know the URL of a website/s like this?
