hiya, I'm thinking about renting this nice 2 bed place but the carpet in it is really yuck. it smels really bad. Do I have the right to ask the angency to steam clean it before i movein there, or do I have to do it on my own? I pay £525 and i guess for that price a month they house should be clean before I move in. I dont really want to spend forever to clean it.

My husband and I found a house in Simsbury,Ct. and we really love it, the house is being sold "as is" for 279,900 dollars. The persons who owned it are now dead and the other is in a nursing home. Their niece is in charge, she does not live in the U.S. and wants to move it quickly, the house has 3-4 bedrooms, 2 full baths, living room, 2 fireplaces and . 86 of an acre. We don't know about the electrical system. Oil zoned heat. It is cosmetically dated inside, there was a leak above the bathroom toilet that is fixed but the hole in the ceiling still remains, the windows throughout need replacement at some point and the entire roof will need replacing within the next year. I am looking for some serious advice on an offer for this home. Based on the little bit of information I wrote, can anyone give me a ballpark figure of what they think we should offer? It is described as a 7 or 8 room cape cod with a two car garage. Thank you so much to all who answer!

We're looking to move from an apartment to a house that's a good size, but has no basement. It's a little bit overpriced for the house itself, but it's in a good location and we might be able to negotiate to market price. We're concerned about resale value. The house has a crawl space sized attic. Would you buy a house with no basement?

I purchased an investment property for $370k and its worth $390k minimum. I'm negative $740 a month on this rental and I currently have a tenant. The first mortgage is an interest only loan with a 7.50% rate and a lovely 6 month pre-pay penalty. My rate is high because i bought this as an investment property. Should i sell this investment property and accept my losses and move on? It would literally take 5 years for the rental income to cover the mortgage payment. This was my worst investment of all time but I did so well selling my other rentals I wanted to buy something else asap. So at this point should i sell my investment property or should i just eat $740 a month? I enjoy tax deductions but this isnt the right way to get one.

I have no lease and rent from month to month. I received an eviction notice today, December 10, written by the landlord. She has given me until Dec. 31st to vacate. I have been given no explanation as to why I am being evicted. I would like to know if, by law, I should at least have 30 days. Also, I would like to know an eviction notice is legal when it is written by the landlord, or does it have to be notorized? I am a single mother of three, and I don't know how fast I can come up with all the money required to move. What do I do if I cannot find a place to live in the three weeks that she has given me. I am a hurricane Katrina victim who has relocated. I have no family or friends here that can help me. What am I supposed to do?

I'm was looking into renting a studio apartment in Manhattan and was wondering if studio apartments generally have a bathroom inside the studio. It just seems that from the ads they never mention a bathroom.

Thanks

The information says the loan balance is 6000 dollars so does that mean that is how much the people want for the house all together or is that a down payment to go toward a remaining mortgage? How do these things usually work? Do you pay the 6000 and the house is free and clear or are there other expenses involved? I dont think it belongs to a mortgage company because the owner is listed as individual.

For example: purchase price is $165,000. appraised at $175,000.
can i use $5,000 of this equity for a down payment? Having this $5,000 down will give me the 3% down i need for a much better interest rate. Is this possible?

My husband and I have lived in his mother's house for a year and paid the mortgage during that time. Now she wants to sell it to us. Do we have any vested interest that we can take advantage of in the purchase of the home in regards to the year's worth of mortgage that we paid?

I am looking to rent an apartment. I have enough money for 6 months rent. The one apartment manager I talked to said she would let me rent from her but would still need to run a credit check just to make sure. The problem is i have a credit score of about 515 because of one stupid credit card mistake. Is it possible she will still let me rent out?

If I purchased a 3 family rental building in Jersey City, New Jersey, for example, what would be the steps to converting these to 3 condos and selling them? What sort of professionals would be involved? How long does this take? How much does this cost? What are some of the uncertainties, i.e., circumstances that could prevent me from being allowed to do a condo conversion? Can you point me to a website where I can learn more? Thanks.

If I have a 400k mortgage at 6% fixed interest, how much is my monthly payment going to be? Of this, how much is the interest and how much is the principal? Is there any online calculator that accurately shows me the payment?

My brother and his wife detest their home and always have. They admit getting it was a big mistake because they were being ultra- conservative. I'm sorry for them because I love my home and think people should. They probably have quite a bit of equity in their home and have found a new home they love that costs about $350K. Brother is worried to move forward on this thinking the monthly payments would be too high, even though I think he'd qualify. With my amateur calculations, I think he could afford to put $100K down on this $350K home, so there would be a mortage balance in the neighborhood of $250K. With a fixed interest rate for a 30 year loan, what would the monthly house payment be? He's frozen right now so I thought I'd offer him some estimate because he won't ask a realtor at the moment. He's a little vague, but I'm pretty sure he grosses about $5K a month. His wife's a stay-at-home mom. Thanks much.

i'm a first time homebuyer. the home has been on the market for 200 days! they have dropped the price, although their first price was way too high. it is now listed at 329,000. I do think it's worth it but i don't want to pay that. i don't want to insult them either, but beings it's on the market so long, how low should i go?
