I signed a lease on a apartment and gave the security check. I won't move in for 5 weeks. After looking into the area and complex, I found it to be not to my liking. I reconsidered the apartment and don't want to move in. I called the manager and asked to have my check back. She said I could. Will I have any problems with this?

I live in California, and I don't quite understand where I would be able to go in order to find a list of all of the Foreclosed homes in my desired area? Do I go straight to a bank? A Realtor? The Community Auditor? Can anyone help me out and let me know where I should go and which would be the most efficient way of finding out this information?

What do you think about the President of the HOA Board pooling funds with his adult children to buy one of the condos here that was foreclosed in by the HOA/Board for non-payment of HOA fees? It seems the HOA attorney worked quickly to seal the deal, and they got the unit for tens of thousands below market value. Legal, unethical, illegal or just one of the HOA "perks"
(In California- and you know what housing costs are like here! Let's say he got the condo in 2006 for a 1996 price.)

I live in an apartment in NJ after losing everything last year. I have nothing and my husband just lost his job due to the economy. His unemployment runs out mid March and I know that my salary will just cover the rent and nothing else. Is there a way I can get rental assistance? Has anyone else been in this situation and know how to get through it without having to move or sacrifice anything more? Serious answers only please, as I really am scared that I am going to be homeless. Thank you.

Our Board just raised the fee by $70 to over $420 a month! I think this is exorbitant, considering we have 1 unheated pool and a single crappy tennis court as our "amenities". Problem is, they don't communicate with the community or let anyone know what's going on, aside from posting a tiny sign no one sees. How can we stop them?

I work as a software engineer here in the UK, if I were to move to the US, would I ever be able to afford a house like that (or like the one Robert De Niro has in 'Meet the Parents') just working as a salaried employee? Or could only successful business owners, politicians, or movie stars afford such places?
Could I even hope for a 'Desperate Housewives' level house?
Here in the UK we have to pay through the nose to live in a shoe box.
