I am looking to rent an apartment. I have enough money for 6 months rent. The one apartment manager I talked to said she would let me rent from her but would still need to run a credit check just to make sure. The problem is i have a credit score of about 515 because of one stupid credit card mistake. Is it possible she will still let me rent out?

actually yes I got my first credit card a year ago when I was 18. It was a 500 dollar limit. I charged a couple things on it was stupid and never had the money to pay it off. It was charged off and now my credit sucks. That is the only thing on my credit is one charged off credit card. My credit score when I checked the last time it was 508 the lowest and 523 was the highest.

Credit checks are standard. At my property, we had someone come in from out of state and they had several months worth of money to pay in advance. Because of our policies, we still had to run a credit check. But, the fact that they were able to put down that money or prove they had it; that made all the difference in the world. I really think the property managers would be kind of stupid to pass that up.

I would say, go for it. Try to clear up that charge off if possible because that will help a ton after a few months. Be up front about what's on your credit and tell her as much as you know. Once she sees the info on the report and it checks out with everything you have told her, she'll see you know what's going on now and are trying to get on better feet.

Most landlords will run a credit check only if they don't think your place of employment will pan out.

If you've got a decent, steady job, and have the money for first and last month's rent and a security deposit, they usually feel okay to hand over a key.

And, if they do run a check, you can explain to them the credit card issue.

Currently I am a real estate agent and want to let you that a credit check is common. Alot of managers say they will run the check but won't because of the cost. Have you tried disputing the negatives on your credit report?

The best thing to do is to be upfront in regards your credit. Tell all prospective landlords the actual number. And also tell them about your education, job stability, etc.

Usually, someone will still rent to you if you seem stable overall and you carry yourself professionally.

And by the way, be real - you cant get a 515 with one credit card fumble.

I have been given off to a rocky start up with the complicated I stay in now; it regarded like each thing I appeared at or appeared at crosseyed might smash. I had a cup slide down the garbage disposal; it grew to become into the final straw. i had to interrupt my lease and rather much did, yet that dumb previous Social centers reported I by no skill paid lease when you consider that day one, and that wrecked my probabilities of entering into at yet another apartment. I now am the poster female for making my lease money ontime, and that i now have been widely used at 2 senior citizen complexes; the time has come for me to pass into senior housing
