What is the difference between buying a house as a second home or as an investment property? Which one is better from mortagage rate and insurance stand point?

Are there any advantages of one over the other?

I heard that mortgage rates and home owners insurance is less on 2nd home. Can a house bought as a second home rented out after the purchase?

I am thinking of buying my first home within London zones 1-6, as i can't afford much i suspect the property i buy will be in poor condition and somebody told me that if you buy a property that has been empty for a year or more you can get a government grant to renovate it, I was wondering what other grants may also be available to me?

The renter is planning on moving the middle of November and will still have their personal belongings in the apartment.
Their rent is paid for the month of November until December 1st.
Should they let the manager show the apartment even though their lease is not up til December?

Have two state licenses for jobs, but they only pay $8 to $9 per hr.
$200 is taken out in taxes per month working full time. Take home pay is about $1000 per mo. Does anyone know a job/work I could do that pays enough to afford rent? One Bd. apartment starts at $1000 plus per mo. I really don't want to live on streets at my age and with health problem.

Hi,

I'm looking out of state for a rental property in the state of Texas.
Here in my home state(Arizona), you can't buy a shed for $150,000.00. In Texas, you have a lot of options with that kind of money.

Anyways, I'd like to move to Texas in about 7 years. Meanwhile I plan to continue to rent here in Tucson.

What do you think? Tucson was recently in the top 10 overpriced house market...

Adios

Hello. Early May, my room mates and I went searching for apartments. We went to one place where the apartment manager showed us the unit we will be living in if we rented there. When we got a walk-through, there were already tenents in there, so we did not get the chance to fully inspect the condition of the apartment. The place was a mess but we figured it was only the current tenents' mess and it would be cleaned up when we moved in. She assured us that it would be cleaned up. When September arrived, we moved in and found the place to be in shambles, meaning rust on the carpet, bathroom sink wasn't grouted in replace of what looked like black mold, the fridge wasn't cleaned etc.. A couple of days after we moved in, we decided to get the apt. manager to do a walk-in so that we can cover our butts and not get charged for this damage upon move-out. She sourly refused and screamed "if you dont like it, MOVE OUT!!" What to do? Thanks!

I am not sure if I should call to investigate that listing by calling the seller's realtor by myself or should I find a buyer agent to help me. I know they are taking additional commission. Would it be worth it?
