I'm 19 and don't have a job, will they still let me have one? I'm going to Chicago (for educational purposes) but don't have the money to get there. I'll be going in Febuary. Will I be approved for a credit card?

Also, I don't have a job right now but I am looking for one. I've applied at several different places, called them etc. I'll have a job eventually, but I don't know if I'll have one before February.

Since I cannot find how to followup your answers with another question, I have to pose another new question, sorry.

I did read it was a good idea to gift $12k/child/year prior to death. Perhaps they meant only if my income bracket is less than theirs? Or is there a better reason?

Thanks all.

I currently claim Income Support due to severe health issues. I'm due a payment on the 27th but with people off on strike etc I'm unable to call and ask if this date will change because of Christmas.

Can anyone please advise if they are in the same situation or know if December 27th payment will change? Thanks :)

I will be promoted at the end of next year(nov 08) due to my current bosses retirement.
Currently I'm at 48k per year and i started at 40k a per year 5 years ago. As his apprentice and the most experianced within our organization he and others in upper management have assured me the position is mine(I'll believe it when it's in writing). However his retirement coincides with a merger which everyone said will not change anything within our organization. With all that being said my boss told me not to take the job for less than 70k per year. With gaurenteed yearly raises I am willing to start at 70 a year but i would like a company paid car or truck(trucks go with the industry).

I have never had to negotiate my own salary, is it like other deals where i should start high and then compromise? Should I get professional advise? Do I mention the truck right at the beginning?

It's pretty rare so I doubt I can get it on an American website. How does that work with my debit card? Does the conversion just work out?

Thanks for the help.

We're in our 50s. 8 yrs ago he was in financial trouble & I 'loaned' him $30,000 that I borrowed. He went 2 yrs w/out so much as paying a water bill. I finally refinanced my house w/ a subprime loan & sold a rental condo to negotiate a settlement on my credit cards, some I borrowed for business before I met him, a lot of it interest over those yrs.

Finally I woke up & insisted he start giving me $200 a week for living expenses. I also started hiding any money I have because he only gives me the $200 when I'm in dire straits.

He wants to share finances & is mad because I won't. He gets mad because he knows I don't tell him everything about my finances. He says the $200 makes him feel like he's paying rent, if he has $500 I should get it.

Problem is when time comes to give up the 500 he's not so willing *if* has it. & I know he'll want 800 back the next week to pay his bills. He's *still* paying 10-yr-old bills.

He thinks he is an equal partner in paying the bills. I'm 2 broke to g

Hello- we are a family of 3 living in CT. We are in our early to mid 30's. I make $60K/yr and my husband makes $70K per year. So combined that's $130K. My question is this: Is that even a good income anymore for professional adults our age? I know there are tons of people making way more than that- and some less as well. I just want to know if it's okay, good, or almost really good. I don't know what to think. I feel like 60K is the new 40K. I know 10 years ago $60K sounded like something big, but it just sounds like average now. What do you think? Please note- the question has nothing to do with whether or not we are being compensated appropriately for our positions, but rather, are the numbers (60K, 70K, 130K) impressive or average, generally speaking, for people our age.
