Yes. The number of checks that I see at work is slowly decreasing, but people are still writing checks to pay their bills. Companies are still writing checks to pay their employees.

I have to write two per month: rent and car payment because neither one will do an automatic debit or electronic payment.

I can't believe people still write checks when shopping though. It is time to get a debit card! I know people used to do it so they could write a check that wouldn't clear for a few days when they didn't have money in their account yet. However, so many banks are truncating the checks and clearing them electronically that the "float time" has pretty much been eliminated.

I write 2 checks a month. One to my church and one to my Condo association. The condo association will only accept my debit card if I allow them to automatically charge my account every month. I prefer to stay in control of when the payment is made.

Actually, checks are used by many people that don't even know they use them. Many on-line payment services actually mail paper checks to the payees. That is why they say to allow 5 to 7 days for the payments to be received. I work in a bank mail room and see at least a dozen such checks every week.

LOL actually i still do! i have a computer and internet and all, but i'm so used to paying all my bills by mail that i just can't change!! i'm not that old, but i've been using checks since I'm 18 years old, and i just haven't switched to paying on line yet!! Plus there are other things you still need to pay by check, like my kid's daycare, and ballet lessons, as well as wedding gits, etc....

some people do. but most use online banking services such as bill pay, or go through individual websites to pay for things. Debit cards and conveniences such as these have made checks rarer.

Most of the people in my family still do, but I prefer debit cards. A lot faster.

To pay apartment rent, and my student loan. All other bills are paid by phone with credit card or online.
