I'm going to be 33 in a few days and I'm trying to get my future a little more secure. I went to the bank the other day and talked to the fiancial guy and he told me about a mutual fund called Kaufmann fund. I'm extremely stupid when it comes to stocks, bonds, funds, and everything inbetween so I didn't understand anything he was telling me. I guess my question is this. Is there a book for dummies someone can recommend I should read to learn terms and the best plan of attack for someone in my fiancial sitution and age and learn how to make the best of my retirement choices and money? Or should I speak with someone else that can help me and dumb it down but not take advantage of me as well?

I would like to give money in some form to each of my nephews for Christmas. I thought about opening a savings account for each of them in their name and my name, is this even possible? Also, while their mother is getting her college degree they are using government assistance, food stamps, medical card, etc, if they have a savings account will this affect their assistance?
Would a bond be a better route than a savings account and who pays taxes on interest of a savings account? I need suggestions on how to go about this please. Thanks in advance.

I live in Italy and am a U.S. citizen. Before I moved to Italy I had my IRA's in an investment bank in the U.S., but now I have been told that this bank, due to international agreements between Italy and the U.S, can no longer administer transactions on my account. Any body know a financial institution ANYWHEREin the world that can handle this? I have tried for quite a while to find one with no luck...so, unless you know for SURE, please, I don't need any more "wild goose chases"

Just over a month ago, I bought some software from an on-line vendor to include on a web-site that I'm designing. Unfortunately, the software didn't work completely (it was an emailing application which didn't email to all addresses or receive from all addresses).

Anyway, the support for this product was through a paid messageboard forum. I signed up for the forum and at first the vendor spent a fair bit of time trying to fix the problem but eventually the replies dried up (despite numerous posts from me) and he stopped replying to my emails (ones to the address he had given me and through his sites Contact Us screen).

At this point, I decided to try to reclaim the money through Paypal's dispute console. I've raised a dispute for the subscription to the forum but unfortunately, I was a day late to reclaim the money for the software (you have 45 days to dispute, I think).

The dispute has been raised for 4 days and still I've heard nothing back so I wonder ... what should I do next? This isn't a lot of money (25 US Dollars) but it's the principle that bothers me!

Also, I have noticed that all my threads have been removed from his support forum.

The money is perfect and nobody will ever know it's counterfit. What would you do? Would you just be set and party for life? Would you start your own non-profit? Or would you do something else??

Hey guys,

I didn't know where to ask about this, so I'm jus gonna shoot my question here. Hopefully you guys know how I should go about this.

I'm sending an $8000 wire transfer to some dude in the United States for an ultrasound machine. His company is called RC Medical and I looked it up and it's got a website and looks kinda legit.

But $8000 is big money. Is there a way to protect it from fraud, in case the guy takes the money and runs? Will my bank protect me? I don't want to do this over eBay or PayPal because of their fees and all that.

How can I make this go safely and smoothly without spending too much in transaction fees?

What are my options if he is a fraud?

Hey, I'm 19 years old and I finally want to get my saving bonds and cash them but my grandpa has them. And I have no idea what his phone number is (he wouldn't give them to me anyways) but I do know they are in my name. But how does one get his/her saving bonds if I live like 200 miles away from him? And what are the processes I need to go through to get them?

I get free formula through WIC, right now, I don't have very much money, and my husband needs money for gas to make it to work, so I 'm trying to sell some of the formula on craigslist to make a little extra cash to have on the side (two 12.9 oz cans for $10) . Is it reasonable? I'm not trying to rip people off, I just need the money. Please give your honest opinion. Thanks.

God Bless :)
