You should be able to walk into Wachovia bank, ask to speak to someone in customer service, and simply tell them you want to add your fiance to your account. As long as you're giving him permission it shouldn't be a problem. You will have to order new checks with your name and your fiance's name on them though.

As for the credit card, you may be able to get someone to give you a credit card with a low limit like $500.00 even if you don't have a credit history. Try applying for a few, but only a few -- every time you apply for a line of credit your credit rating goes down. If you get one, you don't have to worry about the interest rate as long as you pay your balance in full every month. Virtually every credit card comes with a 30-day grace period where they don't charge interest as long as you pay the balance in full by the due date. The credit companies get most of their money from annual fees, late fees, and interest when people only make the minimum payment. So the best way to avoid paying all that extra money is to get a card with no annual fee, pay your bills on time, and get into the habit of not charging anything you can't pay off in full when the bill comes. In your case, you may not be able to get a card without paying an annual fee, but it's a small price to pay to start establishing a credit history -- as long as you don't abuse your new credit card.

Good luck!

Ask the bank. Whoever you're thinking about adding - make sure you trust them with YOUR LIFE! I hope it's a parent or someone like that. Never trust a boyfriend or girlfriend. Heck - I know some people that have gotten married and still maintain at least ONE seperate account!
Always make sure you have enough to fall back on in the event (God forbid) someone wants to mess with you.

I would walk into Wachovia and ask them all these questions. They should be willing to work with you on all these issues.

Do NOT put your fiance on your accounts. Keep your accounts separate until you marry.
