I'm looking to open a shop and my parents offered to lend me some money to help out. They are taking out a home equity loan to lend me about $35,000 to $55,000. I agreed to pay them back. Because they are taking out a loan do they have to pay any taxes? Do I have to pay taxes on this money?

I don't have any assets so I wouldn't be able to get a loan for the amounts of money I posted.

I and my Fiance are both Christians. Right now, things aren't...well, let me say that we are both very blessed. I don't mean to say that we are 'blessed' in a way that makes us seem self-righteous. We certainly have our share of problems. But when looking at the glass as half full, I see that God has done many kind things for us, many of which we are scarcely aware.

In terms of money, I suppose that everyone could be doing better, and that everyone could also be doing worse. We could be doing better.

Although I have only just recently assimilated the practice of tithing again, I am trying to get my life right with God and on the straight and narrow path.

Aside from what may very well be obvious things, such as going to Church, prayer, tithing, reading the Bible, and so forth, what else do we need to do to use our money according to Biblical principles?

We need to shun debt, correct?

What else?

Thanks for your input.

I am a college student living on my own. I have been working at an apple authorized repair center in Northern California as an Apple Certified Technician for over a year now. With rent, phone bills, gas, and bus fares, nine dollars an hours isn't really cutting it. Is nine an hour a fare salary?

I am about to move into an apartment with my fiance. We both work nightshifts at Wal-Mart. He wants me to go to college full time in the fall. But how can he support him and me (including my medications; I am bipolar) going to college on just his income (about $17k/yr after taxes)? And I don't want to take ten years to get a 2-year degree. It's hard to work and go to school at the same time. We also have some credit cards and my car to pay for. And I'm starting to hate my job. And my mom died a month ago in a horrible car accident. I was very close to her.

What should I do?
