I have a child from my previous marriage. I re-married and got 2 more kids. My in-laws bought us a house, pd for 50% of it. My hubby & I equally pay monthly morgage. Recently, my inlaws wanted me to sign a legal document making only my 2 younger kids d beneficiaries of the house just in case my hubby dies. What abt my 1st child? I feel that he deserves some fair share since I put in monthly mortgage but I don't like discussing money issues with my inlaws. What do i do? I have changed my beneficiary schedule in my 401K giving my oldest 80% of it and 10% equally to my other 2 kids. Then i think they might think i favor my oldest when time comes to get the inheritance but I am dead so I cannot explain anything (they are all under 10 y/o right now).

Honestly, I don't care for anything for me but I'd like al my kids to have their fair share. But what is fair & how do I handle this situation without leaving any one left out and not making a negative impression to my in-laws?

My parent's have 8 children and I need a suggestion on how all of us can start saving for our parent's 50th wedding annversary party. They just celebrated their 45th anniversary, so we have 5 years to save. I want to set something up so everyone can contribute $10 or $20 a month, so it won't be a hardship and everyone can feel like they have contributed. If you multiply that times 8 children and 5 years, we should have a good chunk of money for the party. What's the best way to save and collect this money without calling everyone every month to ask for money?

A friend of mine bought a house with a credit card (it cost less than $30,000). She said she did this because her credit card was at a fixed rate of 2.99% for the life of the balance. I have never heard of anyone doing this before. I thought credit cards accrue interest differently than loans do, and I think she made a huge mistake. Maybe I'm wrong, but please let me know if you know anything about credit card or loan interest and how it is incurred.

You know those machines where you put all you change in, and it gives you bills for the amount? Well at HEB (grocery store) do you get the exact about or do you have to give like 1% of your change for usuing the machine.

I'm looking to open a current account online. I cannot get to the actual bank due to illness and just wanted to check how it works.

Will i need to go into the bank at all? or is done through the post? How do you send ID? surely you cant mail the original documents.

Also i have not had bank account before, so will this go against me? I am over 18 so i wouldnt think it would be too much of a problem.

My checking out says that one of it's features include: Dividends earned from day of deposit to day of withdrawal

I noticed today that I received a $0.09 deposit from the bank labeled a "dividend".

Why did I receive 9 cents? (not complaining, just wanting to learn more)

I have about 45K in loans with a 2.785 interest rate. We would like to start saving to be able to buy a house in about 4-5 years. We have no other debt.

Would you try to get rid of your loans (right now I'm on a 30 year plan that would cost me about 20K in interest if I stay on it) or would you try to save money for a house so you can put 20% down and get a better mortgage rate?

What are the pros and cons to borrowing money from your 401 to pay off high interest credit card debt. I would like to retire in 3 years but I have a lot of debt I could pay off by borrowing from my 401k. I know I will lose the earnings on the money I take out but the interest I am paying on the debt is more than the earnings from the 401k. The way I see it, I can retire with debt or retire with less money in the 401k.

I thought of Paypal but I went to a couple of 'international' banks and they don't know how to help me (idiots). Another option would be wiretransfer but that's expensive.. any ideas? Thank you.

Well, 2 years ago I naively bought a friend a car who didn't have one, he couldn't pay it, so have 2 cars in my name. One person has been paying on it, but I am thinking about trying something, because my parents have offered their old car to me. If I were to sell both cars, I know I will have balances left on the car loans, but at least they will be less than they are now. Is it possible to either a) negotiate with the finance companies to get lower monthly payments or b) go into some sort of 'debt consolidation' plan with these "lesser" loans? I'd gotten the notion car loans were secured loans, and therefore organizations like Consumer Credit Counseling would not be able to help with them.

On another similar topic, is there any sort of financial assistance available to people in this sort of situation?

April 10th of this year I received my great grandmothers will papers in the mail.
I read that I am going to be receiving a small inheritance of $5,000.

Ive never been willed anything before, so I dont really know what Im suppose too do.

In the papers it said something about creditors only having 4 months to collect debt. Starting from the date marked on the papers from her lawyer. (april 10)

I dont understand any of this. : (

anyways,
My family is not trusting. Im worried that they will interfere or simple just not give me my inheritance. I cant contact them either for information.

as of September 10th it will be 4 months.

what am I supposed to expect? How long could it take?

and how will I receive it?

I am clueless about all of this. :(

so I would appreciate any helpful advice
