I thought of Paypal but I went to a couple of 'international' banks and they don't know how to help me (idiots). Another option would be wiretransfer but that's expensive.. any ideas? Thank you.

Wire transfer is the only way your going to get it done if the banks couldn't help. It's not that expensive!!

i don't see why pay pal wouldn't work if both of you have a pay pal account and you have a Mexico or US bank account. simple, your client goes to paypal and at the top it says sent money, he needs to follow the instructions, the money then will go to your paypal account, once in your paypal account then you can request a withdrawal from pay pal to your bank account

Have you thought of using a letter of credit? We do work with companies in Mexico, Pakistan, and China, and this works for us.
