Its hard when the bills and money come in at different times. I am single, but not a mother. I sat down and wrote down what my bills are and what i have coming in money wise. I have an account at the bank that i have just to put money away. Each week i put in a little here and there. I set a budget. I know what i can afford and what i can not afford. There are things i want to buy, but do i really need it?!? I know being a mom is a little different though. I admire you. Its not a easy job.

your not able to save at this time because your budget is not able to handle your overhead.
yes, we all live from pay check to pay check
but if the two ends never meet in one month and then carry over to the next month - you are still behnd and owe someone - if not more or you didn't pay them what was due or you incurred late fee(s) which put you further in debt.
anyway, here's my best advice.
consult the following: www.moneymanagement.com
they will help you get you on a budget and aid you with your creditors. and most importantly show you how to save.
concentrate on making adjustments to live within your financial means or increase your flow of income.
i know easy to say/type
knowing that you are not alone in this battle.
i am proud of you and all single moms!

you should be able to save 10% of your net earnings. if you're spending all 500 of your 500 pocketed each week, you need to save 50 , then spend the 450. the 50 goes to the bank as savings for serious matters, not , for ie, concert tickets. if you cannot save 10%, you need to cut back in your spending. if you do not, you will eventually miss payments somewhere and it will begin an endless cycle of problems for you. btw, the 450 includes paying bills. good luck.

I know it's easier said than done, but just make a budget every month and divide by paycheck by what you can set aside for bills, food, rent, etc.
If you end up in the negatives, then you may have to see if you can cut corners here and there to make ends meet. I know it's hard, but it will get better

Always pay yourself first! Only if it is a little bit each week, it will add up in the long run. If you paid yourself only $25 dollars a week for a year you would save up $1300.

Honestly, you are not giving enough information for us to offer a realistic solution or a means to an end. What is your income? what are your expenses? do you pay child care? are you collecting child support? do you qualify for low income housing, universal lifeline (low income phone program), discounted utility bills?
There are a lot of suggestions, but I would need more info to offer you advice. Also, what state (US?) do you live in?
