I'm looking to open a current account online. I cannot get to the actual bank due to illness and just wanted to check how it works.

Will i need to go into the bank at all? or is done through the post? How do you send ID? surely you cant mail the original documents.

Also i have not had bank account before, so will this go against me? I am over 18 so i wouldnt think it would be too much of a problem.

The will send paperwork to your physical address.

If you are not on the Electrol Role at that address, you will have difficulties opening the account.

If ypou can't get into a Branch, then they will expect you to send your Passport / Driving Licence etc. to them by post .. better send it Registered / Recorder Delivery (if you want it back :-) )
