The NYC offer is $6000 more than what I currently make in LA. Given the cost of living of NYC, it seems that I would be making less than what I receive in LA.

Is there any limitation paying somebody or some institution by check, specially when you have checking account? Like, if you have $5000 in your account, can you write a check of $2000 to anyone?

My boyfriend and me are currently renting a lap top from Colortyme, and we have been paying for the (optional) liability damage waiver. Well, in June our home was broken into and the crooks stole my laptop, and we are still being held responsible for it! What I would like to know is, WHAT DOES THE WAIVER COVER? I am so confused because the manager has lied to me about what I have been responsible for before (we put a deposit on a TV but then changed our minds and called to tell him the next morning and he said he would not refund our deposit, but then I called the corporate office on him and he was told to give it back to us!) So, I'm not sure if he is just trying to get the money, or if we are still responsible? If we ARE, then I want to know what the purpose of having the waiver and paying for it was for?!!! Please help me! If I find that I should not be responsible I WILL take as much legal action against him or the company as

We are in the market for a home. Should we buy an expensive home with little things to fix up or should we buy a cheaper home with things that are going to need to be done. Ex. siding, roof, ect. The payments are about $160 in difference between the homes that we are looking at. Also, they are in the same neighborhood, but the more expensive were built in the 90's where as the cheaper ones were built in the 70's. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I would like to ask a question to all people who have their own place, plenty of money, a car (especially the car, LOL!) & most of all, freedom.

I'm 23-years-old & I always feel like I'm struggling to make ends meet. Although I have two, wonderful jobs that both offers excellent wages & hours, it just doesn't feel like it's enough. Without sounding too pitiful, a few of my MOST DESIRED goals in the whole world is to finally escape from my family & find a place of my own to stay, preferably in a new town where I can begin a new life for myself. I also desire lots of money, new friends, a car & freedom. But, it all costs a lot of money & unfortunately I am still teaching myself about financial matters as my parents stupidly never taught me about the responsibilities of money as a child. Now I'm paying for their mistake.

Have you ever felt like you were trapped & helpless & then one day, you finally succeeded in breaking free? If so, what did you do, because I need help.

I'm a little interesting in saving for retirement and I heard somewhere that young workers should get a Roth IRA. What is it? How much could it cost me to save up for retirement. (I'm in my mid-20's and live in Cali if that helps!)

stating that I won money in their lotteries. I won't hold my breath waiting to receive any of this money, but is there some way of finding out if any of them are for real or not. At this point in time I'm supposed to be worth between three to four billion Dollars. Whether it is American Dollars or Australian dollars, I'm not sure of. It would be oh so nice if even some small portion was for real, but like I said I'm not holding my breath waiting. It just seems like such a cruel trick to play on people.

I currently don't do this with any of my bills. For one thing, I get paid every other Friday, and if a creditor was, for example, taking my car payment on the 5th, this could get nuts. When I sign up my payday may be on the 5th, then the next month it is on the 2nd, then the 28th, and before you know it is all screwed up. How do those of you who do this manage it?

My mother passed away about a year and a half ago, after that my dad went crazy. He has been openining credit cards in my name (3), and has been taking money from my checking account(I have taken it all out)and now I cant even get financial aid or a mortgage because of it. I am torn because he is my only parent left(I am an only child) and dont want to take him to court, but I cant afford to pay for the thousands of dollars he has racked up on my credit. I dont know what to do and have no one to talk to. Please, anyone who has been through this or is financially savvy PLEASE help!!

How do you rollover a pension into an IRA? The employer has an annuity option or a lump sum. How can one take the lump sum and roll it over into an IRA without paying taxes? The employer is saying that because it is also considered "profit sharing" that taking the lump sum with cause taxes to be withheld. The employee is 69 years old if that makes any difference.
