Is it ethnocentric, inconsiderate, or fair to say that :

1. since illegal immigrants are willing to work for a fraction of the legal minimum wage, for example, maybe $4 an hour without benefits.
2. Africans and other 3rd world people survive on merely pennies a day.

That Americans who make $8-10 an hour, $50 a day are making too much , while spending and wasting too much, thus making them spoiled.

In other words, is it fair to say Americans who make $50 a day, who can lower themselves to the lifestyle of undocumented works or Africans and save 90% of their income?

My boss told me that he was finally starting a 401k. The thing is he said that the company will match 4% for every 5% contributed. That sounds fine but I think that was talking about the company adding the funds once a year as compared to every paycheck. Isn't it better for me to have the company match every pay? Instead of just me adding every pay and the company putting in a lump sum at the end of the year. I feel that I wont earn as much money. Does this seem right ?

My mom is trying to closed on a home refinance. Now she finds a judgement/lien against her from 2001. The company, First Select, Inc. no longer exists and there are slews of complaints about them to better business, etc. The court says the only way to clear it is to pay it. How long does she have to wait for the money to be returned to her?

Every payday for me, they withdrew $90 form my checking account. This went on for six weeks 'cos I get paid every two weeks. That adds up to $270. On the third withdrawal, I called them to find out what my balance was, it was still $390.

I deceided to pay the loan in full that same day they withdrew $90, Thinking I've got pay only $300. But my balance was still $390. Meaning I have pay to $390 after they've withdrawn $90 from my accounts that same day, less than 30 mins. ago.

They explained to me that my next withdrawal is goin to be $140, that is $90 plus $50 every two weeks until the debt is cleared. That means I'll end up paying $1110 for a $300 loan.

I feel I'm being duped. Can any of you help me out. I also understand that every state has a different law regarding the profits on payday loans. Can any of u give me the link to the one in massachusettes.

Hi, I need some help.
my friend asked me to do her a favor and purchase a cashier's check for her. She said she doesn't have an account with my bank and she needs the cashier's check to be from my bank and since she's not an account holder, she can't purchase one. I said I would, she came over to drop off the money and it is $10,000. That freaked me out because she's sending this oversees and I don't want this to come back to me in the future. Not sure where this money came from and where's going. Woud I get in trouble with the IRS for this money that doesn't belong to me? Please HELP!

I know some people who carry around $100 notes, but I don't really understand why. You can't get them at ATMs so they're not convenient. Most business won't even take them, or can't guarantee that they can take them.
And in this day and age, what could you possibly need notes that large for that you couldn't just use your credit or debit card for?

I think my hubby screwed us.

We needed some money fast,so he wrote a cheque(no money in the bank...)wrote it to me and signed it himself to be put into his account(we have done this with goverment cheques anyway,he wrote another cheque to cover that one and so on. Now the most recent cheque bounced. What can we anticipate happening? We have every intention of paying it back. can a bank lay charges if we pay it back. I kept telling him not to do this. He phoned them today and they said that's fine we can pay it. but wasn't the cheque illegal?

I am so confused.

I'm 23 years old, I'm trying to gain structure in my finically life. I'm learning the younger you start investing, the better chance to the road of success you will have. My debt adds up to around 13,000 dollars. This is just credit cards, medical bills, a small loan from a relative. My debts and interest rates are as the following: 6000 credit card with no interest untill April of 08. 2200 medical no interest at all making $50 month payment. 2400 to a apartment complex for moving out early, no interest making 100 payment a month. 2200 to a relative who says to take care of other debt then I can repay them. I'm paying the minium on everything except my credit card with 6000balance. I pay the most I can each month to it. How should I go about paying these debts off? Also, i'm curious to what the best way to start investing are with minimal amount to invest? My job offers 401k and match but I don't know what percent. Should I start with roth ira or what method? Thanks again

me and my husband recently loaned his brother 700 dollards b/c even though they are 28 and we are 23 they didn't spend within their means and were behind on bills b/c of not balancing their checkbook. their parents said no claiming they had no money which is a lie and trying to be supportive of my husbands love for his brother i agreed. we lent them this money in april and asked for the 1st payment in june and to be paid 100 dollars every other month allowint them 2 months to get on their feet and a yr to pay it off. it's now the end of sug and payment number 2 and we've recieved nothing from them then they said they had the wornd address and the check got sent back so we gave them our address over 3wks go and nothing. my question is that this was a quiet way to help them an no one knows and my husband got mad about him not showing any priority to attempt to even send 5 dollars and now he's saying he'll ask only when we need the money isn't it more about respect to pay it back and

I've examined my expenses over the past month, and next month I'm ready to start cutting things to save money! Here's a list of what I plan to do so far - you tell me what you'd add! : ride my bike to work on nice days; buy groceries in bulk, use some coupons, buy less/cheaper meat or other high protein foods instead of meat; switch to CFL bulbs, turn lights out when not in rooms, turn heat down or a/c off when not home; ditch my parking pass next to work, and park in free lot further away; use fewer cellphone minutes/plan; make errands more gas-effecient by doing everything in one trip when possible; driving the speed limit and not accelerating too fast, thus saving some gas; limit alcohol purchases (those weekend bar trips with friends add up!); buy used items or clothes when necessary, but limit purchases in general except when items are absolutely essential. AND just so this doesn't sound boring - plan one or two specific, cheap "fun" things for the month and budget for those.

My daughter recieved a check that looks like a government check, She is to cash the check and wire money to someone else. I told her that it did not sound right to me, I sent her to the bank, they told her the check was good, but still i am concerned. I told her to not take any money out of the account until it was completely cleared. This just scares me. Who would trust this kind of money to someone they dont know. I am just concerned that something is not right about this. Has this happened to anyone else?

1) I found an item on ebay that I would like to purchase, however they only accept paypal. How safe is it? I know that paypal is the best method to pay because if something goes wrong and they don't give you your item you can prove it from the recepit, emails etc. (I go by user feedback, and I'm very catious and look at all if any negative feedback for them as a buyer and seller).

2) Also, how does it work? I know I need to create an account with my bank account number, but can I just transfer $10 or so to my paypal account from my checking account and they won't touch anything else in my account.

3) If I win the bid, how do I transfer my paypal money to the user? The user is offering free shipping through parcel mail, so how long would it take to arrive? Any links about time length on packages by type is greatly appreciated.
