Is it ethnocentric, inconsiderate, or fair to say that :

1. since illegal immigrants are willing to work for a fraction of the legal minimum wage, for example, maybe $4 an hour without benefits.
2. Africans and other 3rd world people survive on merely pennies a day.

That Americans who make $8-10 an hour, $50 a day are making too much , while spending and wasting too much, thus making them spoiled.

In other words, is it fair to say Americans who make $50 a day, who can lower themselves to the lifestyle of undocumented works or Africans and save 90% of their income?

Guys, I asked YES or NO for whether Americans are too spoiled, not "why" people are willing to work for less (because they do, who cares why). And don't need to tell me our economy would collapse as if you'd care about the big picture when you spend.

Yes, i know Americans are far from the only people who buy luxuries. But do French and Japanese drive SUVs? Do they have a war tax they're paying, I DOUBT. Thus they can better afford to buy things we do, and certainly they don't have houses and land like we do either. SO I was asking whether we're spoiled or not, or simply, do we have our priorities messed up?

I know illegals aren't taxed the same rate (if at all), but even after taxes on an $8 an hour wage, you still get $6, which is 50% more than a $4 wage.

In case some are asking, yes I do pay bills, and only when I did did I realize how stupid it is for Americans to cry "i got bills to pay".

I'm sorry but I live on $500 a month in a nice apartment with a pool everything included (yes, food, rent, utilities, entertainment).

I do get my showers and healthy clean water with clothes that've lasted me years.

Seriously America is NOT the only country where it's citizens buy themselves luxury goods. Go to France and look at all the designer things they have. Japan has little gadgets and toys people waste their $$ on, plus a majority of the people all want designer.Hong Kong? Korea?

1. The illegal immigrants who are actually willing to work for that little get paid in CASH, which means they don't get taxes filed against them. They also don't have to pay any fees to become a citizen, take tests etc. Pay for a visa. It's their choice if they want to do that.

2. They survive on that little BUT they're also walking about HUNGRY all day, many are in rags, don't have good quality housing OR water. You want to go live like that? Be my guest.

Do you even pay bills? What are you some 15 year old kid trying to make some liberal statement? (And I'm pretty damn liberal myself, but the ignorance of your statement is just irritating)

Things in America cost money. Simple. We get taxed on goods. We file taxes. We get fees on all imaginable things. we get tickets if we don't follow certain rules. We have to pay rent each month. Pay for bills, groceries. That takes up a person's income.

I'm not saying that some American's aren't spoiled, because they are, but my gosh get your head out of your sheltered *** and realize some things before you go around sprouting crap like this.

Plus we actually have programs AND charities that help the foreign countries. How many other countries have the programs that we do to help?

I know I sound like I'm all for America, I'm really not, I detest Bush just as much as the next citizen, but come on!

Edit:

"Guys, I asked YES or NO for whether Americans are too spoiled,"

Dude you NEVER said answer in a yes or no format.

"But do French and Japanese drive SUVs? Do they have a war tax they're paying, I DOUBT. "

Dude SUVs aren't the ONLY vehicles people can drive.
and NO **** they don't have a war tax, since they AREN'T AT WAR. A+ for your incredible ability to *doubt* that fact.

"Thus they can better afford to buy things we do"

How the hell do you know that? You know every person's income? The have their own problems to deal with too.

"I'm sorry but I live on $500 a month in a nice apartment with a pool everything included (yes, food, rent, utilities, entertainment)."

Either you live in an area where the cost of living is VERY LOW (if you live in a higher costing area like California 500 will only be able to pay for a single room, yes only a ROOM, rent ALONE), have a roommate or two, or your family/friend owns the apartment complex right? Take cost of living into consideration before you try to brag about that fact, plus whether a person has a family to support or not.

"SO I was asking whether we're spoiled or not, or simply, do we have our priorities messed up? "

What are the priorities you're talking about? What priorities should we have? Should we just make a huge effort to live off of $50 per day like you say? Sit around the house doing nothing, depriving kids of things like being in a soccer league or an ice cream treat because we can techincally "afford" to live on so little by cutting out those expenses? The things we do are what makes America have such a rich culture.

If everyone in the US reduced their living standard to that of a third world country, the US economy would collapse and then Americans would be earning only pennies a day just like people in third world countries.

There would of course no longer be any foreign aid, food supplements, medical help, or other benefits that the US tries to provide to third world countries.

Don't just brush off the consequences of a economic collapse. If the US economy coll-apes (or that of any other major economic power like China, Europe, Japan or Russia,) then the world would be thrown into a major depression. Something young folks like you know nothing about. I hate to think what would happen to law order if that would happen. We came very close in the 20 and 30's to having that situation here in the US.

By the way what is the "big picture when you spend?" I don't think you have a clue, you are just blowing smoke.

I would challenge you to find an illegal willing to work for $4 per day (Sorry, meant to say per hour, not per day).

In Mexico the wages are much less, but they have lower costs also. Look at housing costs and other factors.

Do I think we are spoiled when compared to some other nations? Yes, we are, very much so. Is it a bad thing? Nope, as long as we are willing to work for it.

Illegal immigrants accept peanut payments because they have to, as a first step. If you were starving you would be grateful for a dry crust of bread, whatever your nationality.

Once they are established they will ask for as much as you are, do not fret.
