i am not a materialistic or greedy person and have never really had much money in my life so i would be happy with enough to pay the bills and keep up with that, to own a modest home, and a car that was reliable and enough to put at least 5 to 10 grand away in the bank a year

There's no pat answer. I think it completely depends on the lifestyle you want to lead, and where you live. You can live on a lot less money in Indianapolis, Indiana than you can in Los Angeles, California.

Everything paid off, all my essential needs met and a few hundred grand in the bank or in various funds compounding interest.

When all my bills are paid and there is a few left in the savings.
Once i've paid off my mortgage i'll feel more stable.

Enough so that I can keep it invested and live off the interest.
That works out to a million or two in the bank.

It depends on one's expectations. But I would need £1 million or $2 million net of all debts and own my house.

As long as I'm debt free, have food and shelter, I consider myself lucky and happy. Internet is good for entertainment, but i live fine without it.

In my terms, I like to think of how Africans starve, how illegal immigrants can survive on simply food , water and shared roofs. And ask why Americans are so spoiled and demand so much.

Where I can pay my bills and still have anough left over to mabey have a night out or buy myself something nice...realistically.
