My daughter recieved a check that looks like a government check, She is to cash the check and wire money to someone else. I told her that it did not sound right to me, I sent her to the bank, they told her the check was good, but still i am concerned. I told her to not take any money out of the account until it was completely cleared. This just scares me. Who would trust this kind of money to someone they dont know. I am just concerned that something is not right about this. Has this happened to anyone else?

It is a scam, the check is counterfeit. If she cashes it, she will be liable for the full amount of the check.

It is a scam.

The check will be returned as fraudulent in a few weeks.

If she wires out the money, she will be on the hook for negative balance in the account.

SCAM.

Money launderers steal from others and bank it in your account. Even if sent on innocently, you are still liable for the theft and can be made to pay it back.
