Alright, since I am not of legal age of consent to possess and sign a contract to have my own credit/debit card my parent/.guardian can sign a paper at the bank so I can get my own debit in their name, but it's mine to go and buy something on the internet or something.

But theres an issue I'm wondering, since it will be in my fathers name does his credit score pile onto me so, lets say I go and buy something off the internet and its $15 a month(World of warcraft), I can't do it cause of his credit. Is this true? Or am I on a clean slate so if I put $15 from my paycheck every two weeks thats $30 a month which will build up meaning I am consistant on my bill?

I'm interested in creating a portfolio that has historically returned 7 percent every year, and no less.

Is a money market fund (5%) the closest I'm going to get, or is there some magical combination of bonds & defensive stocks that could get me that 7 percent every year? For the moment, I'm not interested in annualized returns. I need highly predictable returns for every year. Thanks for your help!

I am under 30, I know it will be taxed and penalties will be deducted. I know it will also put me in a higher tax bracket next year (how much more taxes could I owe if any)

i need one to order something from amazon.com. i do live in the united states but i need to use a money order. it say that it must be "drawn on a U.S. Bank" and also be "preprinted with a nine-didget bank rounting number". so i'm assuming i have to get one from a bank, not just a grocery store or whatever. i heard it costs a lot from a bank. does anyone know how much it would cost to get a $48 money order from a bank?

My checks from work deals with Sun Trust Bank,...I have state issued I.D.,Social Security Card,AND my Birth certificate,...(AND They even get my Thumb-print for when I cash my checks!)But they say that ID card,SS card,&BirthCertificate ISNT enough ! they say i need to have a Credit card or a Passport or a Work I.D.(even though I have 3 forms of I.D. !!!)
I cant get no Work I.D. Because ...I work for a Day-Labor company(It's a Labor pool) we're just 'Laborers' NOT 'employees'
I cant get no credit card, nor a Passport because,...I Can Not Afford it.
My credit is shot, plus i cant afford to get no secured credit card neither
They keep Hasslin me everytime i go to cash my check, about "You dont have valid identification" (But yet,...they STILL cash the check for me ANYWAY!!!!)"We're sorry sir,its our bank policy" they say

Shes sixty six and acts seventy six. She is widowed and rarely leaves her 3 bedroom house which is nice but becoming run down. She lives off $665.00 a month social security. I don't know of any job she could do. She has trouble walking fast and is very slow. It takes her over an hour to go the grocery store a mile a way and she only gets $4 worth of stuff. She has a 2003 Tracker which cost her $290 a month. She owes $5500 and pays 14% interest. Her insurance on the tracker is $90 a month. That leaves her $285 for food and cigerettes and her phone bill. I pay her electric and water and some food. I think she should sell the tracker or let it go back. It's in excellent shape with only 55K. She is very mad me for suggesting this. She also says she can save $175 a month for a tombstone which will cost $800 but she hasn't saved any. My brothers don't help. I'm so stressed with her.

We have an 80/20 mortgage. We moved in 3 months ago and it is tough for first time home buyers. Any chance of taking out a home equity line? The condo appraised for more than it is worth.

Would you rather have thousands of dollars saved up in the bank with an equal amount of debt

OR

No debt at all, but be completely flat on your as# flat broke.

I'd rather have that $20,000 in the bank with $20,000 of debt because at least I'd know that I've got some finacial security for emergencies and for my future.

Afterall, people have thousands saved up yet have thousands left to pay off their car. They don't pay it off all at once because they know it's better to have some security, AMI RIGHT OR WHAT?

I'm a new wife and soon to be new mother and pretty much my only responsibility in the house is to pay the bills every month. every month i sit down and want to make a budget but i dont know the best way to do it.
its easy to make a colum of the expenses you have but when the amount of them changes every month i dont know how much to allow for each of them (i.e. phone bill goes up with overages, or utilities are higher in the extreme hot or cold months). so i dont have a question really i just thought someone out there might share what their system is for paying bills every month.
i thought maybe i could budget certain bills for a certain amount and then put how much we actually paid for them in another colum? i dont know! it drives me nuts! help!

I was the victim of a hit-and-run 3 years ago. The driver was sent to prison (he had other crimes besides the hit-and-run) and was ordered to pay me $32,000. He is out on parole now, and I'm having trouble getting anyone to help me collect. He's a young guy, no assets at this point (that we know of). Anyway...right now I need the money very badly because I'm in the process of moving out of state and am in between jobs. I would like to sell the judgement, even for a lesser amount, but the companies that pop up on internet searches are not responding to my inquiries. Does anyone have other ideas? Thanks.

I have my own company and have wondered about buying the building from the company with my Pension and leasing it back, this all sounds ok in theory but then you are tying up a lot of assets in your pension which you cannot get at if your plans change, i would be interested to hear other opinions

Help settle a debate now with a friend. She (age 29) has right at 100K in her 401K, and for reasons that don’t matter to the debate were guessing if she cashed out her entire 401K, it would leave her with about 70K. The basis for this is her understanding of how the full withdrawal works. She reads her company would keep 20% for federal tax, and you have the 10% early withdrawal.

I am telling her it would be more than that amount. I estimate her salary would put her above a 20% federal taxes hit, and was thinking it was more like 24%, and the state of IL would hit her for an additional 8% in taxes. I estimated she would be looking more at 58K after all was said and done with.

I also understand her company locks her out of the 401K plan for a full year. It is obviously a big mistake to totally drain her 401, but who is closer to the correct ‘end’ amount, after ALL taxes and penalties?

I have $110,000 in student loan debt, $11,000 in credit card debt, a car payment, rent, plus everyday expenses. I can't seem to keep my head above water. I have a full time job that pays 38K/year and a part time job at night. Yet, I am still falling short every month. I can't seem to get ahead. What should I do?
