The marraige is over 13 years and one partner wants to take back control of their money. The one partner has always done the bill paying.
The other partner is tired of not having any money. Is there any legal action that can stop the one partner from opening up a new checking account and have the money direct deposited into this account which is not a joint account?

Looking for percentage of salary per year would be resaonable amount we should be saving. We are married with 2 children and the usual bills as everyone else. Trying to save but tough as everyone knows.

I have inherited a little cash $35K (aftertax), and I am trying to decide what would be the bext use of it. Here are my options:
1). Pay off 1 of 2 mortgages (I got an 80/10/10 when I bought my house last year). This will save me money long-term, but on a monthly basis will amount only to $125.

2). Pay off the car loans. This will have the best short-term effect, and will account for over $500 of the monthly budget, and also help tremendously when my current car fails me and I am ready for my next car purchase.

3). Invest the cash into house remodeling (kitchen and bathroom updates), which may or may not payoff later.

My husband has been offered a new position with same company in a different state. (From Atlanta, GA to Scranton, PA)They have offered him $125,000. He currently makes $65,000 and combined we make $136,000 per year. In moving I will be giving up my great job, so is it ok to ask for them to at least give us enough to make up what I will be giving up? (meaning increasing offer to $136,000 per year?) ( I will be giving up contributing to my retirement and stocks in addition to my salary.) My husband says we cannot expect them to care about my salary, but I disagree, who is right here? I also think they should pay for a trip for entire family to check out this city before making a decision, isn;t this typical.? What other things should we consider and ask for in this decision? ( we own a home and have three teenagers).

settling for a payment to pay off the account?

On a past due account, that you are asking a debtor to agree, as a conditon of cashing a check as payment, that they agree to remove the item as ever being late period, and to settle for a lesser amount? Is this practice legal, a credit repair place said it was a tactic being used?

Everything in the US costs so much money and it is so hard to start a life and a family and find a home. I never have extra money and I feel like I am constantly drowing in bills or thinking about it all the time and I never have any relief! Gas prices are awful, homes are expensive, car prices jumped up, and then my only hope for extra money----EBAY, the postal service raised their prices and I am hardly selling anything anymore due the shipping costs. Am I just in a bad part of the country with bad economy, or is everyone living like this right now? I work a full time job, and so does my fiance---and we are both making at least 10 bucks an hour, but we still are drowning. I'm scared to even have kids after our wedding this September, I don't know how I would even buy diapers for it. We both want second jobs, but our town is soo small, everyone wants a job and they are hard to come by.

I am a technical recruiter working in Pittsburgh PA.

I began working in June 2004 for a small privatley owned company.

I was offered the position at 23,000 base plus 8% commission on placements of FTE and contractors.

3 months later I received a 2% hike in commssion for a total of 10% commission.

Since then I have made over 60 placements for the organization.

I feel that I contribute to the profitablilty of the company and I am due a raise (in base salary) at least for the cost of living hike.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I should go about this?

I'm just being an eager beaver here and I forgot to ask my case worker what the amount of cash assistance is. I live in Michigan, so I know it will be different than other states, but can't be too far off.
I applied and know the requirements to be accepted for cash assistance here. I qualify because I will be out of work for more than 90 days (over a year) and have the documentation from 2 different docs. I heard the amount is over $200, but I don't know, only over heard that somewhere. Does anybody know? I am not asking how to qualify because I know that, but just the amounts people get paid.

My question is that I expect to have about $1.5 M when I want to retire at age 55. Allbut about $200K of that money will be in some form of IRA or 401 K. How do you tap into that money when you retire without penalty. Thanks.
