You should NEVER share you ssn# or any other account information on the web. If you need a ssn# simply go to the social security website or the office near you. Anyone living legally in the US will have no problem getting their number.

As the others have already indicated, you should not share your ss# on the net. It is too easy to get hurt.
This is a big change from about 15-20 years ago. I was cleaning out my garage and ran across an old stereo that i had marked with my ss# so that it could be identified in case it was stollen. Dumb move in retrospect but that was common in those days.

If you were born in the US you probably already have one, your parents have it stashed away with your birth certificate and other important papers.
This number is very important and should never be posted on the web. As an adult you will use this number to file your taxes & register for college.
If you are not an American or live in US territories then you will not be able to get one.

If I had your SS#, I could get:
your credit card numbers
your bank account numbers
your address and telephone numbers
your birth date
your drivers license number
and it really wouldn't be that hard.
No legitimate business would ever ask you for it.
Never give it out.
