i need one to order something from amazon.com. i do live in the united states but i need to use a money order. it say that it must be "drawn on a U.S. Bank" and also be "preprinted with a nine-didget bank rounting number". so i'm assuming i have to get one from a bank, not just a grocery store or whatever. i heard it costs a lot from a bank. does anyone know how much it would cost to get a $48 money order from a bank?

It doesn't matter how much the money order is for it will cost the same. Generally a money order will cost between $2-$5 depending on the bank. I would email amazon (or the specific seller) and ask if a money order from walmart would be specific. If it is, walmart sells money orders for around 50 cents.

Hope that helps

My bank charges $3.00, for money orders up to $300. Above that amount you can get a Cashiers check for a fee of $5.00. I get mine free because I work for the bank. ANY legitimate check or money order from any source will have a pre-printed 9-digit bank routing number. That is the number that tells the banking system what bank the item is drawn against. Look for a vertical line followed by 2 dots above each other before and after the 9 digit number.

well, if you are a customer of the bank sometimes they will do it for you for free...

if not it should only cost you a few dollars, five at the most usually one....

word of warring...anyone that ask you to send them cash (which is what a money order is) is very suspicious...be careful
