When did the government authorize the credt card companies to increase your APR on their card even if you didn't miss a payment on their card, but another one? So if you miss a visa payment, your mastercard APR can go up. anyone know when the law was passed? i need a year.

I was checking my accounts online and I found out that I missed the due date for one of my credit cards by 4 days. I immediately made the payment and I am wondering what will happen to my credit. I have read other questions and they have said that nothing may happen unless it has been 30 days past due, or something of that sort. I am a college student that just received a credit card this year, and I have never made a late payment until now since I got my credit cards about 6 months ago. Please help!

I'll fess up my wife had reconstructive breast surgery last year and we fell behind. One secured line of credit went to a collections agency (name withheld) and we have just completed payment.

But during the payback cycle, they used both a weekly wage garnishment and quarterly bank levies at the same time. This caused all kinds of problems with extra bank fees and check bounces. I could live with one hit but two?

I need to know if this is legal.

Most credit card companies are snakes and prey on the stupid and poor. What happened to paying your debts, or even better paying in cash? Are Americans so swayed by advertising of these credit card companies? Do we really worry about whats in our wallets (Capital One) besides CASH.

My wife and I had a car repoed earlier this year and now the collection agency is treatening a lawsuit or the lender Toyota is.
I need to buy some time 3-6 months so I can pay the settled amount.
The creditor has said that want to put a lein on our home and ganish our wages.

Hi, I have registered with paypal so that i can buy stuff on ebay (since most sellers require paypal transaction etc).

i reached a stage where i have to add my bank details (HSBC) so that i can enjoy worldwide transactions so they need to verify my identity.

They insist on getting the name correct as it appears on my bank statement and this is what bothers me:

On my statement, the adressee (which is myself) has my initials and my surname while half-way down the page, account name has my whole names ie first name, middle name and surname followed by Mr

So, which one do i put on the paypal form because if the name on it does not match the one on my bank statement, I'll be charged 14 Pounds. Plus, do I have to also put in Mr on the form (since that what appears on my statement and on paypal, there's no option to choose, you know like Mr/Ms etc).

Any useful help I'd appreciate very much

Thanks

If I have too many credit cards, and want to cancel the ones that I hardly use because of crappy interest rates, does that ruin my credit? What if you have a lot of cards, all with no balances? Does that make your credit go down?

I figure that if the person is married, their spouse becomes resposible for playing any debts left behind, but what happens if this person is unmarried? Do their children inherit the debt? Do the companies simply consider the money lost forever?

Its Christmas time again and the cards are maxed out. I have 3 credit cards ranging from $500 to $2000. Should I focus on paying off the one with the smaller amount even though the interest is less than the one with the larger amount. The $500 can be paid off in no time but it of course has the lower interest rate. Which is my best plan of attack?
