My mother has alot of debt, credit card, medical everything. When she passes away is all that debt going to fall on me? The only debt I have is student loans and I do not need over 200,000 dollars in debt to fall unto my plate because of my mother's death.

im getting my first credit card, and my question is, should i buy a lot of things to build credit faster? or just say, one item per month/billing cycle.

also, does it matter if the purchase i make is a piece of gum, or a television? what difference does it make? do they care?

thanks in advance

If you dispute something on your credit report and the collections agency cant verify that the account was yours or they dont respond in 30 days, it gets deleted off your credit report. When this happens, could the collections agency still sue you in court even though it has been deleted off of your credit file?

Say your credit limit is $3,000. But you want to make a $5,000 purchase. Normally, if you do this, you'll go over your limit by $2,000...and that would hurt your credit score.

So instead, can you essentially "increase" you own credit limit by FIRST overpaying your card by $2,000? And then make the $5,000 purchase? Or will making the $5,000 purchase still end up showing as going "over" your credit limit, thereby hurting your credit score?

Ok this is what I'm confused about. When at the grocery store or gas pump I will use my bank's ATM checking card that has the visa logo. Aside from flexibility of having merchants widely accept visa why is the set up that way? Second question is when at the pump or store it asks for credit or debit after you slide your visa checking card. Why does it do this? I mean can't the machine tell its obviuously a debit card and the funds are coming from my checking acct? Why would it ask this and what impact would it have if I chose credit rather than debit when using my card. Someone help me! Thanks!

I keep seeing posts from people who say that you need a credit card to make a car rental reservation, or to get a hotel room. I have traveled a fair amount, and I have always been able to use my VISA Debit Card for those things. I have never been denied a reservation for car rental or hotel rooms becase I didn't have a 'Credit' card.

Apparently some have different experiences than I regarding this matter. Which hotel chains and rental car chains did you have this issue with?

They put the house back in my name, I refinanced and sold the home. Now this is showing up on my report as a foreclosure along with the positive of me refinancing and paying as agreed. How many points would my score go up if I can get the foreclosure removed? I have been disputing and now taken the extra step of sending the 3 bureas the court docs and settlement docs. Could a wife file a chapter 7 and her husband not file at all? What about debt they have together? What about a home titled in both their names? My sibling is thinking of doing this, so I thought Id ask here if anyone had been through this.
