Could a wife file a chapter 7 and her husband not file at all? What about debt they have together? What about a home titled in both their names? My sibling is thinking of doing this, so I thought Id ask here if anyone had been through this.

Yes you can, but since the joint debt is only done in one name the creditors can go after the spouse for payment.

i think this would be the same situation-- i do know that you can file chapter 13 even if both husband and wife are on the homes title and only the wife or the husband could file.no need for both to file at the same time unless you have alot of seperate bills.also the wife can file on any bills that his name is on only if hers is on that bill too.you will not be able to file any bills that are just his.

anyone can file without their spouse. If anything is in their name together then the one who didn't file bankruptcy will be responsible for paying the bill.

If you have a lot of joint debt then there is no advantage to only one person filing.
