mobileStorm is a data base marketing company that provides a platfrom from which e-mail, text-mail, printed, fax and voice calles are created and delivered. Our product is purchased with a credit card via the web and is a monthly charge bound by contract. If a contract is broken (credit card is declined/cancelled) we would like to report this bad debt to a credit agency.

The amount is about $2500. Is this a good idea? Roth has earned around 10%, the card's interest is around 14%.

Due to financial difficulties, I got really behind on credit card payments. Five months later I am informed by phone (from an attorney) on Sep. 8 that I am receiving an audit against me, if I don't come up with $3500 in 5 days. The attorney (who's client is the credit card company) told me that the credit card company told him that they gave me a two week notice. However, that is a lie. If they gave me a two week notice I would have been able to come up with the $500 minimum and my account would have returned to good standing. On Sep. 9 I received a regular statment in the mail. It said that my account would be in good standing if I paid the credit card company $574 by October 2. Their attorney filed an audit against me on Monday morning, since I was unable to come up with the full amount. After lying to their attorney, the credit card company later told him that they didn't have to tell me. If they didn't have to tell me then why did they tell their attorney that they did?

I check my credit quarterly and I noticed tonight a collection listed from an MCI accont dating back to 2001. The Collection agency has had the account since 2004. I contacted the collection agency and while they had my correct phone number on record, the address had the wrong city. They confirmed that they have had returned mail. So, attempts to contact me have been futile. I don't have any record of them calling me either. The debt is only for $50! It seems to have dropped my credit about 70 points.
First, can I be held accountable for this since they had the wrong address?? Also, I really have no idea if this account is even valid. I might of had MCI for long distance for a short period of time, but, this was 5 years ago. I disputed this through Experian and I am waiting for the results. Anyone have advice as to how to get this off my practically spotless report. Even if I pay the $50, will it increase my score or must I attempt to get it removed for that to happen.

This company claims that I owe them 3K on a card I never signed up for. I asked for proof that it was mine, because I can't find any records of it with my other cards (all paid and canceled since 2001). They haven't sent anything and now have set a court date. I can't afford to pay them, I don't think the card was ever something I signed up for, and I haven't a clue what I should do to get this resolved without a court appearance.

I'm still very new to this whole credit thing and I want to have a good credit score asap. I just started my 2nd yr in college and already spent about $600 on books and food with the card (dont worry I got a job lol). My limit is $4,000.

I have 3 questions...

1) Should I spend anymore money using my card? I heard the rule of thumb is to stay at 25% of your limit (which would be $1,000 for me).

2) For my monthly bills, I know there's a minimum amount to pay. Should I pay more than that.... if so then how much or what % more should I pay?

3) I have 0 APR until March 1st. I was planning to pay off $100 per month so I can finish my balance in 6 months. Is that a good idea to get the best credit score?

3) Suppose my balance is at $900 and I pay it off (on time monthly). Will my score be better than if was doing the same thing with the $600 balance?

I am 23 with a nine-month-old son, and I owe (on top of my student loans from college) approximately $30,000 in credit card debt. I am looking to do a debt management/consolidation program, but was wondering if I should just contact those credit card companies that say to call them if I have "financial difficulties" instead? Also, which debt consolidation programs would you refer, if any? Thank you!
