I have the opportunity to get a $10,000 consolidation loan to pay off all my cards ($6,000) but I'm not sure that's a good idea. I would like to raise my credit score to make a major purchase.

thing is he's not intending to settle his CC, loan etc. debts before going. According to him no one will bother tracing him for the debts, I've heard different and that the debts are sold to companys who recover the debts. I'm worried he is being far too cocky about all this and in years to come it will all catch up with him. What is the likelyhood ?

I read somewhere that rather than paying off your credit card balance completely, you should only pay the minimum balance plus 20%. How does that encourage the credit card company in raising your card's spending limit?

I asked a similiar question a few weeks ago and everyone said we can not get around gettting a credit card. (We were trying to go about this without getting one)
So we tried a few things. First thing we tried was getting a small personal loan through our bank. It was denied.
Than we finally broke down and applied for a credit card. They also denied us that.
Our credit is a little tinged. His by a 200 dollar medical bill and mine by an outstanding cable bill.
how are we supposed to build better credit if we can't get approved for credit to begin with?

My brother was looking over a credit report and came across an entry from a bank. His wife went behind his back and co-signed on a car loan for her brother. What are his options? He wants doen not want to be on the hook for this. Also, if they got a divorce, would he be on the hook if her brother defaulted on the loan? PLEASE HELP!
