I agree with Ted, depending on how bad your credit is, you will probably have to get a secured card.
You might go to Orchard Bank, HSBC and Bank of America websites and do the card selector and see what they offer you.
Doing the card selectors will not pull a hard inquiry. If you apply for a card that is recommended then you will get a hard inquiry, which will ding your credit. Keep in mind that even if a card is offered, there is no guarantee of approval.
You might want to go to the site I've listed and work on your baddies. Start reading in the Newbie Forum and then the Credit Forum.

Get yourself a secured credit card. You will have to deposit money in an account and your credit limit will be the amount in that account. Pay each month's statement promptly. After a few months, you will be able to get a conventional credit card.

Some Q have no good answers. Yuors does not. You can't take a magic pill that will let you lose weight while eating chocolate fudge sundaes, either. People with good credit get more credit. I get three offers a week. People with bad credit have to put up a deposit.
Banks are not stupid. They judge you on what you have done. Anyone who tells you differently is lying.

Honestly, Ted and alot of other people are wrong,
You can get a credit card if you have bad credit, I have done it, My mother has done it, and so have alot of other people.
one great way to start off, is with this card,
http://www.rewards660.com/
it might seem like a ripoff, with all the fees and such, but it truley isnt. i love it, it has helped me a GREAT deal, and im sure it can help you, if you give it time, around 6 months or so with having the card, im sure if you go to Chase, or Capital One, they can help you get a card also. Good Luck and I hope all goes well.
and remember, even with bad credit, things are achievable.
Just dont go around applying at alot of place, it hurts your credit score and banks dont like to see it.

Best thing to do is repair your credit first, then it's easier to get better rates
