So I had an interview with a company for a position I desire. The next day after the interview, I called the HR lady becuase I thought I left my wallet there. She offered me the job and said I can start on the 22nd of the month. However, she said she needs to run the backround check and call my referal.

My backround is clean (Except a misdemeanor C) and the referals will only speak good about me. Yesterday I called her again to see how it went, she said that she is still working on getting one more referal and waiting on the backround check. She said that by today she will give me a call.

I did not recieve the call and didn't want to call her and bother her, because yesterday I called her twice. I am affraid that I will not get the job...Is this normal?

works for a "Think Tank" as an energy analyst? I have a very good friend who is contemplating whether or not to take a position with the International Crisis Group to be based out of Brussels, Belgium and is hesitant on taking the position. I'd say if the job gives you the opportunity for professional growth and travel, then by all means, go for it! Any opinions are welcome. Thanks in advance!

I have been at my job for nearly a year now. There are only four other people beside me, and we enjoyed a fairly close working relationship. However, that all changed about 2 weeks ago. Out of the blue I had two completely unrelated arguments with two different people...one of them my supervisor. Both arguments were non-work related, they were personal and I felt like attacks on me.

The one I really do not care about so much because he was a jerk but the one with my supervisor stings. I do not feel like I trust her anymore. She and I were pretty close, at least so I thought, and she said something pretty nasty that really hurt.

I am pretty young and still learning how to deal with people in the work force. By nature, once I trust somebody I am a friendly, open person. I feel like that backfired on me in this instance.

Do you have any advice on how I can make things better with my co-workers? I am trying to distance myself emotionally, but it is difficult.

I don't think my employers at my work like me, so they are limiting my work week to only 3 hours a week! It used to be about 26 in the summer, then about 10 when school started, and now 3...they must really want me to quit...

I used to work with this woman, and she was incredibly rude... for no apparent reason, she just stopped speaking to me. She even went so far as to use a different desk from her own one, so as not to have to look at me.

And no, I was not imagining her hostility directed personally towards me. She was incredibly nice to our coworkers.

For awhile her hostility was so terrible that I was literally shaking every time I had to go to her desk to ask her something... quite often, she would snap at me for disturbing her. Though sometimes she would just plain purposefully ignore me and continue listening to her headphones. This behavior went on for months.

She left a few months ago, but my boss just told me today that she may be coming back. I will continue to be as polite to her as I can be, when I have to deal with her. But I doubt some people can change though, and I dread working with her again.

Does anybody have any horror stories of their own? How did you deal with it?

I am currently an LPN who makes really good money at my gov't job. I am currently in school to obtain my RN license. Since I have been in school I have really thought about following my dreams and getting my degree to teach. I am a 26 yr old mother of 2 and wife of a navy sailor and I know I can obtain my RN license quicker and began making money faster. But I keep questioning if I want to do that or go in to the field of my dreams.....

Yep, first time I ever applied to a job, and I have got an interview now!

This is for a job at Subway.

What sort of questions can I expect? Also, I don't have a suit or anything but I'm thinking it won't be a formal interview... so I can dress casually.

Also- Do they tell you at the interview if you have the job? Or do you have to wait, if so for how long?

Thanks!

Interview is tomorrow, I will tell you how it goes ^^

I need help rewriting my resume. All these places I've been using to help me with my resume say things like "Give examples of specific increases you brought about". The trouble with that is that although I've been in the hospitality industry for over eight years, neither of the two jobs I've held have had that particular potential - there is no quantifiable way for me to measure what kind of an impact I've had on the revenue or customer base. (I could make a number up, but that would be dishonest of me, and I am nothing if not honest to a fault.) I'm wanting to move up to a management position, and although I've never done it before, I feel as if I would be very capable. (People aren't born managers!) I've trained others before, I have excellent multi-tasking skills, and I have a personable demeanor that is approachable for both employees and customers. What would be an effective way to showcase my talents, other than using hyperbole and obvious buzzwords? Thanks!

Unfortunately, the places I'm looking at, you have to wear khaki pants. I get bad/heavy periods. I will need to call off during that time. Its a really big problem for me. What do I do if I get a job where I have to wear hkakis?? I can't wear them with my period. I won't do that.
