I need help rewriting my resume. All these places I've been using to help me with my resume say things like "Give examples of specific increases you brought about". The trouble with that is that although I've been in the hospitality industry for over eight years, neither of the two jobs I've held have had that particular potential - there is no quantifiable way for me to measure what kind of an impact I've had on the revenue or customer base. (I could make a number up, but that would be dishonest of me, and I am nothing if not honest to a fault.) I'm wanting to move up to a management position, and although I've never done it before, I feel as if I would be very capable. (People aren't born managers!) I've trained others before, I have excellent multi-tasking skills, and I have a personable demeanor that is approachable for both employees and customers. What would be an effective way to showcase my talents, other than using hyperbole and obvious buzzwords? Thanks!

Explain yourself in an introduction paragraph:

Follow me on this -

Name, contact number, email

Professional summary: A short paragraph summarizing what you wrote above

Experience: Company, dates, city, job duties

Education: Where did you graduate, when

Awards and recognition: Company awards? Civic awards?

Special Skills: Word, wordperfect, other software pertinent to your industry

References: Available upon request.

Try to keep it to one page, but if you have enough experience, you can stretch it to two pages.

Now, regarding your paragraph: For some companies (like environmental consultants), this paragraph is from the statement of qualifications.

Mine is like this: Mr. Envirodude has over 20 years consulting experience in the arenas of EPA compliance audits, Phase I & Phase II Assessments, Groundwater Remediation and Design, groundwater modeling, and UST removals . Having worked all aspects in the field, he is able to take his experience and make critical judgment calls that will protect the best interests of his clients. He is committed to bringing projects in on time and under budget.
