Yes, we (employers) do check for high school diploma graduation. If they say they will perform a background check you should be sure everything you put down is truthful or it could cost you the job, and put you in a no-hire file with Macy's going forward.

It's a gamble...sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. It's very easy for them to check it out. Usually the larger companies that have Human Resource Departments will make a few phone calls to verify the info on your application. If this is something that you'd really like to do, here are a couple of suggestions:
1) wait to apply for this cosmetics job until after you've received your diploma, or perhaps apply a few weeks before graduation (but indicate on the application that you're graduating soon). You might want to think twice about applying now, having them find out the truth, and then ruin your chance of being hired at a later date.
2) consider applying for another position in Macy's that doesn't require a HS diploma. You'll get an opportunity to meet some valuable contacts in the store (which could come in handy after you get your diploma) and gain a reputation for being reliable, friendly, and professional.
Good luck!

Okay well i have a stupid question but HOW DO YOU THINK THAT THEY WONT FIND OUT?
what explanation will you have for not being able to work during ANY school hours?
Might as well tell them so that you dont ruin your chances of working there when you do graduate...
the worst thing that could happen is that they tell you that you can apply again then
but if you get caught lying (and I really think you will)
(your age might give you away)
they will probably assume that you will lie about other things too
Hang in there, these next few months will fly by

Sometimes they do. And they might wonder why you have already graduated if you aren't old enough - or why you can't work during the daytime while you are in classes.

You could always try honesty. Show them you are on your way to getting your diploma. If they're hurting for help (especially @ Christmas time) they'll likely take you on part time.

Most of the time they don't. But it's your call.
