So I had an interview with a company for a position I desire. The next day after the interview, I called the HR lady becuase I thought I left my wallet there. She offered me the job and said I can start on the 22nd of the month. However, she said she needs to run the backround check and call my referal.

My backround is clean (Except a misdemeanor C) and the referals will only speak good about me. Yesterday I called her again to see how it went, she said that she is still working on getting one more referal and waiting on the backround check. She said that by today she will give me a call.

I did not recieve the call and didn't want to call her and bother her, because yesterday I called her twice. I am affraid that I will not get the job...Is this normal?

Call her late Friday so she has all day and it isn't being a pest. I don't know what a misdemeanor C is but it could make them not want you. Call all your references first thing in the morning to see if they have been contracted yet, maybe one isn't answering the phone or on vacation.

From what you said, she already gave you a verbal offer. However, most companies like to run a background check and referral check prior to the individual starting. Your job is contingent upon your record coming back clean. If it doesn't, they may chose to not hire you after all. Remember, no job is final until you have a written offer letter. Yet, remember all jobs are contingent upon your background, drug test, and referral checks.

yes, this is normal and she is also very busy. crim checks can take up to a week and referances can take just as long. I would call her tomorrow and ask if there was anything you can help her with? maybe calling your referance and having them call her. good luck
