I am growing a 70s style mustache and am wondering if employers can legally tell you to shave or not grow out your facial hair. What can you do if you want to grow a big mustache or beard?

I was hired at $8/hour to be a part time cashier. I am a 33 year old stay at home Mom who wants a little extra money. I have my MBA and ten years management experience. I was interviewed by the store manager (who is no longer there) and was clear that I only wanted to be a cashier. Over the past few months, they have turned me into the evening cashier. I've gone from my 15-22 hour work week to an average of 30. I have managers keys, and all the responsibilties of a supervisor. I spoke with a new manager last night and he told me they informed him I was a supervisor. Noone has spoken to me about this transition.

The plan:
1. Ask for a raise to $12 an hour.
2. If they say no, I will explain that I accepted $8 as a cashier and from this point forward that is all I will do.
3. If they give me grief about that, I plan to turn in my two week notice.

Do you think I'm right? Am I doing the right thing? Any suggestions would be appreciated....

Alright. So, my dad is gettin older (he's a lil over 50) and all he's ever done in his life is construction work since he was a teenager. he loves what he does, but he can't keep it up much longer because of his health condition. he used to build houses, and did everything (poured foundation, built cabinets, painted, installed electricity, plumbing, etc.). We're trying to give him some options of things he can do that aren't gonna require so much in the physical but will still be fun and interesting to him. So, I was wondering if any of yall guys knew of something...??

The interview was last Weds, right before Thanksgiving. They told me they would call me sometime this week to let me know. I got so caught up with the holiday and did not send a thank you card, which I know I should have done. Is it too late to send this now? It would probably get there in 1 day since I live in the same town. I have his email address as well, should I do this instead or continue with the note?

I need to make £7K until next June so I can pay off some debts. I am not after a career, and because I failed at uni and my work experience is awful, the only job that seems decent and that it shouldn't be a problem to get quickly is a motorcycle courier (in London).

I have a Suzuki GS 500 with a pannier. I am going to buy a GPS system with which I assume the job will become easy (I won't keep getting lost). My insurance is estimated at £80/month.

I've done the job 2 years ago (only for 1 month), but I only made £300-£350/ week. My fuel costs were about £50/week I think. But I think now with the GPS system I won't get lost all the time, so I am assuming I can make more.

I'd like to hear some advice if it's possible to reach my target by 1 June, even better by 1 of May. Remember I am not looking for a long term career, and can bear the harsh conditions as its only 6 months, and after my debt is clear I won't need to work anymore.

I am graduating from undergrad this summer. I will not be allowed to walk across the stage until December (my school does not have commencement celebrations in the summer). I am taking only 1 class in the summer and I will be completed with everything. Will I be able to apply for jobs/internships with major companies that ask for graduates as of May 2008?

I had my first interview with an accounting firm (with about 20 employees) on Oct. 3rd and a second interview on Nov. 5th. The second partner I interviewed with said I would be a good fit and more than capable of doing the work. I have been in contact with the firm and they say they are still really interested. How long does it normally take to get a job offer if they're as interested as they say they are? I only have 3 weeks of college left and I'm starting to get anxious. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I was offered a specific amount to fly across the country for an interview with this company and fronted the money myself, even though it was over the amount promised. I haven't heard a yes or no from the company yet but I really need the money as soon as possible to cover my basic expenses. It seemed incredibly rude to mention it while I was there and I would still like to leave this company with a good impression of me, even if I am not offered the position. What is the most polite way of asking?

How do I go about this. I think she's trying to pull the wool over my eyes and I have policy in place to let her go if she is. She's a mediocre employee and I have trouble with her quality of work all the time and now she claims she couldn't drive back to town (we had a four day weekend) because of sleet. I'd like to check and see if it really did sleet in the areas around Dallas yesterday. If it did, great. I'll cut her slack although in our industry it's REALLY necessary she be here and I have policy that requires discipline (verbal up to termination ) if they miss any of the 5 days before holiday or after. How do I check yesterday's weather?

I recently recieved a verbal job offer early last week, with a written offer to follow shortly after. It has almost been a week and I have not yet heard anything back. Should I contact them to find out what is going on?? How do I ask this question with out coming across pushy?

Last time I spoke with them i stated that I needed to give at least 1 wks notice, which they said was fine, they wanted me to start on dec 3rd, but by the looks of it that will not happen, I will have to give my notice today. I will not give my notice until I have written contract in my hands.

I have been to both vocational schools and colleges and unfortunately didn't find a spark in what career I wanted to get into. I have did some soul searching and researching and have been out of a job because I despised all food industry jobs that I had. I'm at the conclusion of feeling a good heart to help others with back problems that's why I considered massage therapy! umm and then I'm thinking of joining a community college and doing the PTA progam and as I build myself up I want to end up owning my own cafe! life is full of decisions and I feel like I been soul searching enough on my careers I need your advice. I mean I love a job where I can work independently and not to grind and move too fast and I can work in a soft structured environment where people aren't screaming at me or telling me I'm doing a bad job I'm tired of that! i'm empathetic, kindhearted, peoplepleaser, easygoing nice

I'm getting my first job in the corporate world, I've always had industrial jobs that didn't really require "fashion sense". I'm new to this whole tie-and-collar thing as well, the outfit I'm leaning towards is a black shirt, tan slacks, black and gray striped shirt, black belt and black shoes, would this be appropriate for a job interview or what? Any advice would be awesome!
