I currently work for mevyns and I am really having fun.
But now, I have to drive my brother around a little bit and have to help my mom and dad out. Since mervyns is 3 miles away, it's little tough for me to get there on time and all that.

So I want to get a job at the local mall. They have Now Hiring sign up and I want to know if it will be hard to get a job during this holiday season. Please help. I do have a register experiecne, customer service, and plenty of other retail experience at age 16. Thanks.

At this time of the year if you have a PULSE and can stand up you are pretty much qualified for the retail stores around here in the malls! But they are VERY strict about your getting to work ON TIME. Otherwise, you WILL be fired and there goes any idea of helping anyone or having extra cash for the holidays.

You might run into an age problem; lots of stores in malls hire 18 years and older.

If you enjoy where you are at now, why not stay there? If it's a question of getting there on time, this might be a good time to learn TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS. It's only 3 miles away? Fine, remember to factor in how long it takes for your other travels and work that in. LEAVE 15 minutes EARLIER so you will be on time!

I don't know where you are, but is the local mall closer than 3 miles?? Mine is 7 miles away and with traffic jams at this time of the year, not to mention poor road conditions because of winter weather, I'm lucky if I can get there, find a place to park and clock in within 45 minutes of when I leave my home.

I suggest that you stay where you are for now.

Good luck, whatever you do. You seem to have your head "screwed on straight" at 16, so no worries.

Hope this helps.

There are usually lots of jobs at a mall for the Christmas season, but many of them have already hired their people. Apply tomorrow - there are probably some openings from people who quit or got fired from the first batch of hirees.

You should have no problem getting a job. Some stores will not hire anyone under 18, but a lot of stores do.

It should be easier during the holidays. As close as it is to Christmas, they may already have enough staff. Anyway you'll probably just be seasonal...once the first of the year comes, your hours will probably be cut.
