so, i've got a degree in poli sci and i've recently been thinking about pursuing a career in nursing. I know that I can go to a community college to become an RN...but what other options do I have?? Since I already have a four year degree, can I go to a university for a RN or even a BSN degree?? I want some advice as to whats best for my situation.
Thanks in advance :)

I am in the process of getting my BSN and I was thinking of getting my cosmetology license too because I have an interest in doing hair on the side. Would that be time consuming considering that being a nurse has a lot of crazy shift hours?

I work at this rehab place. Its like a group home. I get paid 8/hr. One of my good friends works here also. She is almost 8 months pregnant. We have a big inspection coming up on Mon., Tues., and next Tues. They want us to deep clean everything and i mean everything. My friend can't be around the chemicals and they don't care not one bit. They expect us to do so much and what we do i think we should get paid more than 8/hr. I wanna look for another job but im trying to stick it out until Jan when i go back to school. Im not telling them im going back to school because the last time they tried to stop my friend from going and when u ask to b parttime the get mad and still schedule us fulltime. They dont tell us nothing. The clients complain saying that we dont feed them enough on wkends and when i told the cook what we do she says that we are overfeeding them Most of them are supposed to be on watch for their weight. Should we sit and wait it out or continue looking for a new job. Help

I am considering a career in as a sonographer. It seems like an exciting career and it would also give me a great sense of accomplishment. I was going to school to become a nurse, but the idea of being a sonographer first seems like a better goal for me right now.
Is there anyone out there who has that career or is considering it like me? How long does it take to get your license? ( I have about 2 years of college completed already) How much do they usually make?
Thanks for the help!

I am getting ready to enter my senior year in high school, and after I graduate, I am interested in going to school to become a sonographer; specifically, an Obstretic Gynecological (OB/GYN) Sonographer. How much schooling is needed to persue a career in this field?? And where can I get this schooling from? ..Do I need to go to a college, or are there technical/vocational schools that are an alternative?

thanks for your time and answers :)

What is the best way to tell whether being an RN, or being a nurse in a specialized area...such as surgical nursing....is right for me?

Without actually working in the field....its hard for me to tell.

I know that I am good with people...but other than that...I dont know.

Or can you go straight into RN? Most schools have "LPN to RN" transition programs, but can you just take your basic classes and then take RN courses and become an RN if you have no intention of being an LPN?

My daughter has expressed interest in becoming one, but I'm having a hard time helping her find pathways to that specific career. What courses, starting her junior year in high school (she's a sophomore now) are good to take and does it matter what she majors in in college as long as she continues on to med school? At what point does she specialize? What's the salary range for an anesthesiologist? I believe that's why she's focused on this path so far... I honestly don't know that this is where she'll end up, but I'm glad she has a goal!

I just received my certificate in medical transcriptioning. Does anyone know of a work from home job available? I can't seem to find any online. I thought this would be a good option to stat at home with my kids, but now I am thinking there are no medical facilities who hire transcriptionists that won't be in the office. Someone help please...I don't know where to look or start...
