I recently graduated as a RN. My potential employer told me they wanted me as charge within 6 months. Even though I know I could push myself, I was turned off by the pressure of this from day 1. I want to be a safe, effective nurse, and would not have had a problem with charge RN if she had given me a year or something. This is a facility that I have never worked, so all polices, procedures, and systems would all be new for me to learn too. Is this too much to ask or normal for a new grad? Thanks for any advice!

I have been a state certified for my state for over a year now. I haven't been looking for a pharmacy job until now. Do you think it'll be hard for pharmacies to hire me since I been AWOL in the pharmacy industry for so long now.

What retail stores pays good for a pharmacy technician job? (Wal-Greens, Rite-Aid, Target, Wal-Mart, Sam's) I saw the Costco in my area was hiring and I was interested. They said to apply online but would it be better if i go and talk to the pharmacist in-person?

Why do most pharmacy tech. job requires 1-2 years exp. How do we get the exp.? The only experience I ever got is from my externship.

I really need a pharmacy job now since my current job cut my hours short.

I have been staying home with my children for seven years while they've been young. Now, I'm trying to take my previous work experience, my BA and graduate school education, & recent volunteer experience and apply for some really entry level part-time jobs. I can't even get a call back. I have easily applied to 400 jobs in the last six months! Some volunteer jobs require references. To sub you have to take a personality test, which I did. But it is unbelieveable to get a job now. I just want a job to get my foot in the frickin' door. Any ideas? I'm taking prereq to go to nursing school and get a second BS in nursing. Ideally, I would like a job or volunteer position in health care. Strangely, this is hard to come by. Thoughts?

I'm wanting to make a drastic change in my life. I'm currently unhappy with what I do and do not forsee it being my permenant career. I'd like to get into the medical field by becoming an x-ray technician and eventually branching into a radiologist. Is this a good choice for someone with no experience to go to school for? And if so could you give any tips on preferred schools? I've got a wife and two kids and I want to make the best decision. Thanks in advace!

I am currently trying to decide whether to get my LPN or RN. I just moved to Sarasota, FL and the community college here has a waiting list for the RN program...so basically the soonest I would be able to begin the program would be Fall 2008 even though I have already completed ALL of the prerequisite classes at another community college in Jacksonville. The technical school here offers a one year LPN program which I could start in August this year...plus they have night classes which is VERY important since I have a two year old and no family here to care for her....and daycare is sooo expensive when you only have one income. I'm just confused because I have heard that it's not worth it to get your LPN then go on to RN because RNs make so much more. Also since I have taken the time to take ALL the prereqs for the RN program, it's kind of annoying to have to wait over a year to start it. I know either way that my goal is to be a RN, I just can't decide which route to take.

I am considering going back to school to become a nurse practitioner (a Masters program that allows non-nurses to get their RN and then MSN) or going to a Physicians Assistant program, also a Masters. I think I can get into the NP program but iffy on my chances of getting into the PA program. Does anybody have advice on which direction I should choose and why? I am looking at Wisconsin's Marquette's Graduate School of Nursing and a PA program in Illinois at Rosalind Franklin University. Anybody familiar with either of those programs? I see a lot of jobs overlapping for PA or NP but I want to be respected by MD's/DO's and I am not sure how they feel about NP's over PA's. Thanks for your input.
(By the way, my over GPA is a 3.1 and my science GPA is a 3.3) I have not taken the GRE yet.

I will be starting nursing school this fall, and I am excited about it. But I have heard that doctors are ALWAYS condescending and rude to nurses. I am uppity, so this may not be the profession for me if that's the case.
