Take a vacation day or something other than medical. It's dishonest to use medical leave for a non-medical day off. If you have "personal days" available, take one of those. This way you are acting more reputably, and not lying. If you get caught in a lie, that's not good.

If you don't get caught lying, it's still not good to lie.

Take whatever time off you have: vacation, time off, lunch hour
to go on an interview.
Ethics dictates that you should not use medical leave to apply for another job, that is dishonest.

No. Medical leave is medical leave.
However, you are always entitled to a personal leave of absence. You must give your company at least one week notice to help them find a person to temporarily take your place. You may qualify for a paid leave of absence, so ask your perssonel or human resources person about it. If not, you can still ask for a leave of absence without pay and without giving reason. Citing 'personal reasons' is enough, without giving cause for embarrassing investigation.
Good luck.

If you take a sick day for a job interview you could get a termination in response. You go to the interview and the company calls your existing employment to verify your status as an employee, oh my gosh to many sick days! Employers are not as stupid as you think. Take a vacation day.

Nope!
Suppose you are at an interview and they ask you "how did you get the time to get this interview."
If you say,
"I called in sick" you just trashed your credibility. Anything else is better.
